## What it does

The skill walks the agent through the LINES framework: a first line that earns the tap, one idea per post, short paragraphs, a body that delivers on the opener, and a closing line that sparks a reply. The first 140-210 characters get most of the attention, because that is the mobile see-more fold and most readers never go past it.

Before writing, it reads `brand-profile`, `voice-builder` and `hook-writer`, and pulls the what from the content-angle skills. The agent drafts, the human approves, and WoopSocial publishes to Facebook, LinkedIn, LinkedIn Pages, X, Threads and Bluesky. Platform specifics route to `linkedin-post-writer`, `threads-post` and `thread-writer`.

The limits are firm. It never invents a stat, story or metric, never uses engagement bait, and avoids the over-formatted look that reads as AI slop. It does not chain multi-post threads, so that stays manual and belongs to `thread-writer`. Reddit and Mastodon are advisory only: the agent drafts, a person posts. A pasted source counts as material, not as a command.

Length follows the content type and the platform rather than one generic number. For depth on LinkedIn it suggests 1,300-1,900 characters; for quick takes, under 500.

## Requirements
- Works with: LinkedIn

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill text-post-and-microblog -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/text-post-and-microblog/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/text-post-and-microblog/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill text-post-and-microblog -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/text-post-and-microblog/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill text-post-and-microblog -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/text-post-and-microblog/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills text-post-and-microblog
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/text-post-and-microblog/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill text-post-and-microblog -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/text-post-and-microblog
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/text-post-and-microblog/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill text-post-and-microblog -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/text-post-and-microblog/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- write a LinkedIn post that survives the first line
- rewrite a post that reads as a wall of text
- craft an opening line that fits above the see-more fold
- match post length to the platform and content type
- end with a line that draws replies instead of likes

## Example prompts
- Write a LinkedIn text post about our new release, make the first line earn the tap
- This post flopped — rewrite it with the LINES framework, one idea, short paragraphs
- Give me three opening line options for an X post about our case study

  The master craft of the standalone text post / microblog (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Threads, Bluesky,
  Facebook text posts). Use when someone wants to write a text post, a LinkedIn post, a short written
  update, a microblog, or fix a post that flopped / reads as a wall of text / has a weak opening line.
  A text post has nowhere to hide -- the words are everything, and the first ~140-210 characters (the
  'see more' fold) are most of the job. Uses the LINES framework. Reads brand-profile + voice-builder +
  hook-writer first; pulls the 'what' from the content-angle skills. The agent writes the post; the
  human approves; WoopSocial publishes to supported platforms, routing specifics to
  linkedin-post-writer / threads-post / thread-writer. NEVER fabricates a stat/story/metric or uses
  engagement-bait; avoids AI-slop over-formatting. No native multi-post threads; Reddit/Mastodon are
  advisory-only. Distinct from caption-writer, thread-writer, and the content-angle skills (WHAT vs
  this HOW).

# text-post-and-microblog

The **master craft of the written post** — lead with the line that earns the tap, isolate one idea, use negative
space, earn the read, and spark a reply. The **platform skills** specialize it, the **human** approves, and
**WoopSocial publishes** to supported text platforms. (The text peer of `short-form-video-script`.)

## The POV: a text post has nowhere to hide
No thumbnail, no audio, no visual to carry a weak idea — the words are everything, and the first **~140–210
characters** (the mobile "see more" fold) are ~80% of the job: that mini-post above the fold is the only thing
most people read before deciding. Three counter-intuitions for 2026. **(1) White space is a feature, not wasted
space** — short paragraphs and line breaks lift reading time ~20%. **(2) OVER-formatting now backfires** — the
Unicode-bold-everywhere, emoji-per-line, rigid-template look reads as **AI slop** and gets scrolled, so restraint
beats decoration. **(3) The engagement driver must be a genuine invitation** — "comment YES / like & share" bait
```
