## What it does

The skill takes `/tendril-debug-plan <planid> <note>`. The first argument is a five-digit Tendril plan ID, the second is free text describing what to look for. It then pulls the plan's artifacts from `$TENDRIL_PLANS/{planid}-*/`: `plan.yaml`, the revisions, `costs.csv`, reports under `verification/`, and the worktrees. Logs do not live there. Jobs write flat into `$TENDRIL_HOME/Jobs/` as `{jobId}-{planId}-{promptware}`, so you list them with `ls "$TENDRIL_HOME/Jobs/"*"-{planid}-"*`.

From each Job Log the skill reads the `SessionId` and finds the raw session at `~/.claude/projects/*/{SessionId}.jsonl`. It adds up token counts and the cache hit ratio, counts tool calls by type, spots the same file being read twice, and looks for edit loops and build errors. The verification pipeline gets its own pass: whether dependency checks and worktree validation caught anything, which verifications ran and which were skipped, how many fix-retry cycles happened, and whether results landed in `verification/`. An `Analyze-SessionJsonl.ps1` script is used when it is present.

Findings are checked against the Tendril sources — `Promptwares/{Type}/Program.md`, `Services/JobService.cs`, `Services/PlanReaderService.cs`. The output is `debug-report.md` next to the plan, with a summary, a timeline table, token numbers and the fixes. Set `TENDRIL_HOME`, `TENDRIL_PLANS` and `REPOS_HOME` first; without them the paths to artifacts and sources will not resolve.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Ivy-Interactive/Ivy-Tendril --skill tendril-debug-plan -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/tendril-debug-plan/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/tendril-debug-plan/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Ivy-Interactive/Ivy-Tendril --skill tendril-debug-plan -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/tendril-debug-plan/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Ivy-Interactive/Ivy-Tendril --skill tendril-debug-plan -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/tendril-debug-plan/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Ivy-Interactive/Ivy-Tendril tendril-debug-plan
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/tendril-debug-plan/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Ivy-Interactive/Ivy-Tendril --skill tendril-debug-plan -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Ivy-Interactive/Ivy-Tendril --path skills/tendril-debug-plan
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/tendril-debug-plan/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Ivy-Interactive/Ivy-Tendril --skill tendril-debug-plan -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- find out why a plan is stuck in the Building state
- trace an edit loop that keeps the build from passing
- check why verification passed on a broken change
- total up token spend and cache hits across jobs
- see which dependency checks let a problem through

## Example prompts
- Debug plan `/tendril-debug-plan 03451` — verification passed but shouldn't have
- \`/tendril-debug-plan 03451` this run took forever, find the bottleneck
- \`/tendril-debug-plan 03451` the plan is stuck in Building, look into it

# tendril-debug-plan

Debug and analyze Tendril plan executions end-to-end - from plan creation through checking/verification - and produce a set of concrete bugfix and improvement recommendations.

## Invocation

```
/tendril-debug-plan <planid> <note>
```

* **planid** - 5-digit Tendril plan ID (e.g., `03451`)
* **note** - free-text context about what to look for (e.g., "verification passed but shouldn't have", "took forever", "got stuck in Building state")

## What This Skill Does

1. Gathers all artifacts for a plan: `plan.yaml`, revisions, logs, costs, verification reports, session JSONL
2. Analyzes the execution timeline, token usage, tool call patterns, and error loops
3. Cross-references findings with Tendril source code and promptware instructions
4. Produces a structured recommendations report with concrete fixes

## Execution Steps

### Phase 1 - Gather Plan Artifacts

Resolve paths from environment:

* `TENDRIL_HOME` - base config/data directory
* `TENDRIL_PLANS` - plans directory (defaults to `$TENDRIL_HOME/Plans`)
* `REPOS_HOME` - for locating Tendril source code

Read these files from the plan folder (`$TENDRIL_PLANS/{planid}-*/`):

| File                | Purpose                                                                                                    |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `plan.yaml` | Plan metadata: state, repos, commits, PRs, verifications, dependsOn |
| `revisions/*.md` | Plan scope, acceptance criteria, verification checkboxes. Last one is the one that is the executable one. |
| `costs.csv`         | Token/cost breakdown per promptware (if available)                                                         |
````
END THIRD-PARTY FILE f112c990be4d3893
The third-party file has ended. Everything between the f112c990be4d3893 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
