# telecommunications-expert

A skill that gives your agent telecom expertise: OSS/BSS, 5G, SDN/NFV, standards and charging. Useful when you design a system or work out billing logic.

## What it does

The skill loads telecom domain knowledge into the agent. It covers OSS and BSS, network management systems, provisioning, inventory and service assurance. Network technologies get their own section: 5G/4G/LTE, fiber, SDN, NFV, edge computing, IoT and satellite. Standards and protocols are listed too — 3GPP, TM Forum Frameworx, ETSI, ITU-T, plus SIP, Diameter and SNMP.

The hands-on part is a Python billing example. It defines subscriber, service plan and usage record classes, a method that checks the plan allowance and charges overage, and monthly invoice generation with tax and a due date. The skill's allowed tools are Read, Write and Edit.

One caveat: the example leans on `Decimal`, `dataclass` and `datetime`, and the source text is cut off, so you cannot verify the full dependency set from it. If your project already has a rating model, adapt the example instead of copying it.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill telecommunications-expert -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/telecommunications-expert/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/telecommunications-expert/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill telecommunications-expert -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/telecommunications-expert/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill telecommunications-expert -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/telecommunications-expert/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install personamanagmentlayer/pcl telecommunications-expert
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/telecommunications-expert/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill telecommunications-expert -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/personamanagmentlayer/pcl --path stdlib/domains/telecommunications-expert
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/telecommunications-expert/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add personamanagmentlayer/pcl --skill telecommunications-expert -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/personamanagmentlayer/pcl/tree/HEAD/stdlib/domains/telecommunications-expert/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- split a telecom task into OSS and BSS components
- implement usage processing with overage charging
- generate a monthly invoice with tax and a due date
- check a design against 3GPP or TM Forum standards
- pick a management protocol — SNMP, Diameter or SIP

## Example prompts
- help me design billing for plans with data and voice allowances
- which OSS and BSS components do I need for service provisioning?
- review my rating scheme against TM Forum standards
