# team-combat

Runs a team of subagents that designs a combat mechanic, writes the code, VFX and audio, then validates the result.

## What it does

The skill drives a phased pipeline. A game designer defines the mechanic and its formulas, a gameplay programmer writes the core code, an AI programmer handles enemy behaviour, a technical artist builds VFX and shaders, a sound designer defines audio events, and a QA tester writes the test cases. At every phase transition it shows the subagent's proposals through `AskUserQuestion` and waits for your call.

How much of that actually runs depends on config. `team.size` sets the active set: at `individual` the `gameplay-programmer` carries the pipeline alone and other roles are consulted through it, at `small` the full composition runs, and at `studio` engine sub-specialists join plus an adversarial review pass. The `automation` mode decides whether the pipeline stops for you at each phase or advances on its own, and `--review full|lean|solo` overrides `review_mode`.

Invoke it without a combat feature description and nothing happens: the skill prints the usage line and stops without reading files or spawning subagents. So the argument is not optional. The pipeline expects a project with `technical-preferences.md` in place and an engine set in `engine.name`, since that picks which specialist reviews the architecture.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill team-combat -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/team-combat/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/team-combat/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill team-combat -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/team-combat/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill team-combat -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/team-combat/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios team-combat
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/team-combat/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill team-combat -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --path .claude/skills/team-combat
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/team-combat/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill team-combat -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios/tree/HEAD/.claude/skills/team-combat/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- design a parry mechanic and write out its formulas
- add weapon spread and the enemy behaviour that reacts to it
- wire up hit VFX and combat audio events
- get a combat feature covered by tests before release
- push one combat mechanic through every team role in a single run

## Example prompts
- /team-combat melee parry system
- /team-combat ranged weapon spread --review lean
- /team-combat area damage system --review full

# Team Combat

**Argument check:** If no combat feature description is provided, output:
> "Usage: `/team-combat [combat feature description] [--review full|lean|solo]` — Provide a description of the combat feature to design and implement (e.g., `melee parry system`, `ranged weapon spread`)."
Then stop immediately without spawning any subagents or reading any files.

When this skill is invoked with a valid argument, orchestrate the combat team through a structured pipeline.

**Decision Points:** At each phase transition, use `AskUserQuestion` to present
the user with the subagent's proposals as selectable options. Write the agent's
full analysis in conversation, then capture the decision with concise labels.
In `collaborative` mode, the user must approve before moving to the next phase.
In `guided` mode the pipeline advances automatically unless a phase is BLOCKED;
in `autonomous` mode it runs end to end, recording each phase outcome via
`log_decision`. Decisions in `automation_always_ask` categories
(`is_always_ask_category` helper) always prompt regardless of mode. See
`.claude/docs/automation-modes.md`.

## Phase 0: Resolve Config

!`bash "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../hooks/yaml-helper.sh" resolve_config --keys review_mode,automation,team.size,workflow`

Resolved above — use as-is; `--review` overrides `review_mode`. No block →
defaults in `.claude/docs/config-resolution.md`.

`review_mode` sets director-gate depth, and this pipeline has no director gate:
no phase below spawns CD-, TD-, PR- or AD-PHASE-GATE, at any `review_mode`. Its
phase gates are the pipeline's own decision points (defined under `team.size`
below), and the agents that work at them are team members, not director gates.

`automation` drives the Decision Points note above. See the Decision Points note above and
`.claude/docs/automation-modes.md` for how each mode changes pipeline behavior.

`workflow` sizes the Phase 1 design document the way `/design-system` does:
