Converts messy specs, bug clusters, and roadmaps into structured execution packets. It isolates discovery from delivery to clarify blockers before sprints.

## What it does

The skill transforms vague ideas, raw specs, playtest feedback, or issue backlogs into structured planning units. It divides work across five phases: discovery, foundation, core delivery, verification, and follow-through. Unresolved research items stay separated from active build tasks.

During intake, the agent selects a target packet type such as a sprint candidate, feature slice, or milestone packet. Each slice receives a clear outcome, assigned role, required inputs, testable acceptance criteria, and blocker status. The workflow relies on file and shell operations via `Bash`, `Read`, `Write`, `Edit`, `Glob`, and `Grep`.

Story pointing and sizing do not belong here. The skill passes estimation tasks directly to `task-estimation` and board state transitions to `triage`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill task-planning -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/task-planning/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/task-planning/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill task-planning -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/task-planning/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill task-planning -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/task-planning/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install akillness/jeo-skills task-planning
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/task-planning/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill task-planning -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/akillness/jeo-skills --path .agent-skills/task-planning
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/task-planning/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill task-planning -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- slice large product features into actionable work units
- separate backlog items into ready and unready tickets
- map technical dependencies and blockers prior to launch
- structure sprint candidates using team velocity and availability

## Example prompts
- Turn the notes from our latest playtest into a sprint-ready task list.
- Break down this feature specification into execution slices with acceptance criteria.
- Review the repository backlog and isolate items that still need discovery work.

# Task Planning

Use this skill when the job is **turning messy context into one small planning packet that a team can actually act on**.

`task-planning` is the PM front door for backlog cleanup, feature decomposition, sprint-candidate prep, release slicing, milestone packets, and roadmap-to-delivery translation before estimation, boards, review, or execution.

## When to use this skill
- The request is too vague, too large, or too mixed to hand straight to implementation.
- A backlog needs to be cleaned into ready vs not-ready work.
- A roadmap item, feature, bug cluster, launch beat, or playtest finding needs execution slices.
- A team needs one compact packet that names dependencies, blockers, and acceptance criteria.
- The packet spans multiple disciplines: frontend/backend, PM/ops, GTM/content, or code/content/build/playtest work.
