## What it does

This skill implements a four-step CSS variable architecture designed specifically for Tailwind CSS v4 in React and Vite projects. It sets all theme colors in `:root` and `.dark` using the `hsl()` wrapper. Then, it maps them through the `@theme inline` directive to expose utility classes like `bg-background` and `text-primary`.

The workflow configures Vite with `@tailwindcss/vite` and strips out legacy configurations. Tailwind v4 does not use `tailwind.config.ts`. The file gets deleted, and `components.json` is configured with an empty config field. The skill directs you to run shadcn initialization through `pnpm dlx` because `bunx` triggers script errors and MSW issues during postinstall.

It eliminates known traps such as the deprecated `tw-animate-css` package and duplicate `@layer base` blocks. Base styles consume variables directly via `var(--background)` without double-wrapping, keeping the theme engine intact across mode switches.

```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/tailwind-v4-shadcn/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/tailwind-v4-shadcn/
### Codex
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill tailwind-v4-shadcn -a codex
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/tailwind-v4-shadcn/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
### Cursor
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill tailwind-v4-shadcn -a cursor
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/tailwind-v4-shadcn/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/
