# system-audit

Runs a periodic check of the whole agent system against real files and command output: what works, what drifted, what to delete. Built for repos whose rules and memory have piled up.

## What it does

The skill works through seven lenses: whether claimed progress matches what is actually on disk, whether docs and single sources of truth have drifted apart or contradict each other, whether rules and subagents hold together, which layers ever fired, whether infrastructure can be reproduced, where domain knowledge is missing, and what should go.

Facts come first. `scripts/collect.sh` inventories layers, frontmatter coverage, memory caps, broken path references, git activity and possible secret exposure. `scripts/usage.py` reads session transcripts and writes down which skills and tools were actually invoked over the last 30 days. A third script, `scripts/gates.py`, sends a known-bad sample through each PreToolUse hook's wiring to show which tools are really guarded.

Every finding needs something the agent touched: a `file:line`, a command result, a query output. Anything unverified stays a hypothesis and is not counted. Depth is picked from the request, from a quick pass with no subagents to a full run with an independent architecture critique; the parallel fan-out relies on `recon` subagents. If there are no session transcripts yet, the profiler exits, and layer telemetry has nothing to report on.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add awrshift/agent-memory-kit --skill system-audit -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/system-audit/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/system-audit/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add awrshift/agent-memory-kit --skill system-audit -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/system-audit/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add awrshift/agent-memory-kit --skill system-audit -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/system-audit/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install awrshift/agent-memory-kit system-audit
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/system-audit/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add awrshift/agent-memory-kit --skill system-audit -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/awrshift/agent-memory-kit --path plugins/memory-kit/skills/system-audit
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/system-audit/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add awrshift/agent-memory-kit --skill system-audit -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/awrshift/agent-memory-kit/tree/HEAD/plugins/memory-kit/skills/system-audit/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- see which rules and skills were ever invoked and which sit dead
- catch facts duplicated across docs and stale in half of them
- confirm PreToolUse hooks actually cover the risky tools
- compare claimed progress with disk state and git history
- build a list of things to remove without breaking the setup

## Example prompts
- Run a full system audit across all seven lenses and tell me what to delete
- Audit yourself: what works and what only exists on paper?
- Do a gap analysis of this agent system and give me a ranked backlog

name: system-audit
description: "Periodic evidence-based self-audit of the whole agent system — the orchestrator, its docs/SSOTs, rules, memory, subagents, tools, infra and the work it claims to have delivered — followed by immediate cheap-safe fixes and a ranked backlog. Use when the user says 'аудит системы', 'проверь себя', 'самопроверка', 'system audit', 'audit yourself', 'health check', 'что у нас накопилось', 'система раздулась', 'проверь что работает а что на бумаге', 'gap-анализ', 'что удалить', or on cadence triggers (every ~10 sessions, before a milestone, after a big refactor, when memory hits its caps, when onboarding this repo to a new agent). Seven lenses: delivery reality · knowledge drift · operational layer · layer telemetry (did it ever fire) · tools & infra · domain gaps · anti-bloat subtraction. Not for reviewing a single diff (use a diff-review pass) and not for probing a running product (use /memory-kit:qa-sweep)."

# System audit — "what works / what drifts / what is missing / what to delete"

An agent system accretes. Good patterns and bad ones, dead rules nobody reads, facts restated in
five places with three of them stale, tools that only ran once. This skill is the periodic
sweep that keeps it **evolving without inflating**: it measures which layers actually fire,
deletes what doesn't, and reports findings that carry evidence rather than impressions.

**The one thing that makes this audit different from a checklist:** every claim must be backed by
something you touched with your own hands — a `file:line`, a command's output, a query result.
An unverified observation is labelled `hypothesis` and never counted in the verdict.

## Step 0 — Scope, depth, delta (2 minutes, always)

1. **Depth.** Pick from what the user asked, default `standard`:
   - `quick` — deterministic collector + lenses 1, 4, 7 inline, no subagents. ~10 min. Use for a routine "how are we doing", or when the user asks mid-work.
   - `standard` — collector + all 7 lenses, lenses 2-6 fanned out to parallel `recon` subagents (`model="sonnet"`), synthesis + adjudication inline. The default.
```
END THIRD-PARTY FILE ab77ab8232ad67ed
The third-party file has ended. Everything between the ab77ab8232ad67ed tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
