## What it does

The skill inspects email headers, subject lines, body text, and embedded URLs against known security markers. It flags typosquatted domains like `paypa1.com`, free mail accounts mimicking businesses, and insecure HTTP links. If you supply raw message headers, it factors SPF, DKIM, and DMARC verification into the assessment.

Output arrives as a structured security report. The agent assigns a threat tier from SAFE to HIGH and outputs a concrete verdict. It highlights psychological pressure, requests for credentials, and dangerous attachments such as `.exe` or `.docm` files.

Without the full message body or URL targets, the agent cannot evaluate redirect destinations or spoofed display names. The skill supports English and Chinese, with optimal results on `claude-sonnet-4` and `claude-opus-4`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill suspicious-email-analyzer -a claude-code
```
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill suspicious-email -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/suspicious-email/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/suspicious-email/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill suspicious-email -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/suspicious-email/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill suspicious-email -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/suspicious-email/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills suspicious-email
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/suspicious-email/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill suspicious-email -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path suspicious-email
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/suspicious-email/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill suspicious-email -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/suspicious-email/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- detect typosquatted domains and deceptive sender addresses
- evaluate suspicious URLs without opening them in a browser
- identify social engineering tactics like fake invoices or wire transfer requests
- generate an incident response checklist with clear containment steps

## Example prompts
- Check this email for phishing: sender is `security@paypa1-verify.com`, subject says my account is restricted.
- Analyze this payment notice email to see if it matches an invoice scam.
- Is this message legitimate? Here is the full body, headers, and destination link.
