# supabase-audit-tables-read

Reads data from exposed Supabase tables to show what actually leaks. Useful when you want to verify RLS policies before shipping.

## What it does

The skill runs SELECT queries against each table through the Supabase REST API with the anon key and checks what comes back. Three modes: quick (first 5 rows), sample (10 rows in random order) and count — row counts only, no data. Queries are read-only, nothing is modified or deleted.

Findings get sorted by severity. P0 means PII, payment data or secrets like `stripe_webhook_secret` are reachable. P1 means more is exposed than expected, for instance a `user_id` column in comments. Tables that RLS blocks correctly and public data with appropriate access are marked separately. Results are written to `.sb-pentest-context.json` and `.sb-pentest-audit.log` as the test runs, not at the end — if the skill is interrupted, the findings are already saved.

You need the project's anon key. If tables haven't been listed yet, the skill invokes `supabase-audit-tables-list` itself. It closes with remediation examples: enable RLS, scope SELECT to your own `auth.uid()`, or move public columns into a view. That makes it worth running against a test project rather than production.

## Requirements
- Works with: Supabase

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yoanbernabeu/supabase-pentest-skills --skill supabase-audit-tables-read -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/supabase-audit-tables-read/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/supabase-audit-tables-read/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yoanbernabeu/supabase-pentest-skills --skill supabase-audit-tables-read -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/supabase-audit-tables-read/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yoanbernabeu/supabase-pentest-skills --skill supabase-audit-tables-read -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/supabase-audit-tables-read/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install yoanbernabeu/supabase-pentest-skills supabase-audit-tables-read
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/supabase-audit-tables-read/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yoanbernabeu/supabase-pentest-skills --skill supabase-audit-tables-read -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/yoanbernabeu/supabase-pentest-skills --path skills/audit-api/supabase-audit-tables-read
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/supabase-audit-tables-read/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yoanbernabeu/supabase-pentest-skills --skill supabase-audit-tables-read -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- see which rows the anon key returns without auth
- check whether RLS holds on the orders table
- spot secrets like webhook keys in a reachable table
- count rows in exposed tables without pulling data
- document a PII leak before fixing it

## Example prompts
- Test read access on exposed tables
- Count accessible rows in all tables (no data retrieval)
- Test read access on the users table

# Table Data Access Test

> 🔴 **CRITICAL: PROGRESSIVE FILE UPDATES REQUIRED**
>
> You MUST write to context files **AS YOU GO**, not just at the end.
> - Write to `.sb-pentest-context.json` **IMMEDIATELY after each table tested**
> - Log to `.sb-pentest-audit.log` **BEFORE and AFTER each test**
> - **DO NOT** wait until the skill completes to update files
> - If the skill crashes or is interrupted, all prior findings must already be saved
>
> **This is not optional. Failure to write progressively is a critical error.**

This skill attempts to read data from exposed tables to determine what information is actually accessible.

## When to Use This Skill

- After listing tables, to verify actual access
- To test RLS policy effectiveness
- To assess the severity of data exposure
- To document exactly what data can be retrieved

## Prerequisites

- Tables listed (auto-invokes `supabase-audit-tables-list` if needed)
- Anon key available

## How It Works

The skill performs SELECT queries on each exposed table:

```
GET https://[project].supabase.co/rest/v1/[table]?select=*&limit=5
Authorization: Bearer [anon-key]
```

**Important:** This is READ-ONLY. No data is modified or deleted.

## Test Modes

| Mode | Description | Queries |
|------|-------------|---------|
| **Quick** | First 5 rows from each table | `?limit=5` |
| **Sample** | Random sample across tables | `?limit=10&order=random` |
| **Count** | Just row counts, no data | `HEAD` request |

## Usage

### Basic Read Test

```
Test read access on exposed tables
```

### Quick Count Only

```
Count accessible rows in all tables (no data retrieval)
```

### Specific Table

```
Test read access on the users table
```

## Output Format

```
 Test Mode: Quick (5 rows per table)
 Tables Tested: 8
