# apple-mail

## What it does

The skill works with Apple Mail.app through AppleScript and SQLite. It can search for messages, read them, send new email, reply, delete messages, and change read status. Several message IDs can be handled in one call. Fast search queries a temporary copy of the database, so Mail.app can stay open.

It requires macOS, `sqlite3`, and a running Mail.app. List and search scripts use cached data, so run `scripts/mail-refresh.sh` before looking for the latest messages. Gmail folders such as Sent Mail need the `[Gmail]/` prefix: use `[Gmail]/Sent Mail` as the mailbox name.

Check the recipient before sending; the skill’s instructions call this out. Mail.app also adds a blank line at the start of sent messages, and the script cannot bypass that behavior.

## When to use it
- find messages with a search query
- read messages by ID
- send an email or reply to a message
- delete several messages by ID
- mark messages as read or unread

## Example prompts
- Find emails matching “invoice” and show the recent results.
- Read the messages with IDs `12345` and `12346`.
- Reply to message `12345` and confirm that you received it.
