## What it does

Use the skill to review a defined marketing question, such as pricing, positioning, a launch or a channel choice. The session can seat one advisor, a group of three to five, or all twelve roles. These are simulated roles, not stand-ins for real marketers.

Each advisor applies Suede frameworks to the case. The response maps conflicting recommendations and the evidence that could resolve them, then a chair synthesizes the discussion into next steps and skill handoffs. Before starting, the skill asks for the decision, its stakes and the session mode. It reads `.agents/product-marketing.md` first if that file exists. This skill does not conduct primary research, write the marketing plan or carry out the selected tactic; those tasks go to other Suede skills.

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-marketing-council -a codex
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-marketing-council -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills
Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/suede-marketing-council/SKILL.md
## When to use it
- pressure-test a positioning decision
- compare arguments for competing prices or channels
- review a launch before committing spend
- identify disagreements and the evidence needed to choose
## Example prompts
- Compare two channel options and map the disagreement in a council session.
- Give me a quick take on this offer, including the strongest counterargument.
- Review this launch with the full council; we cannot revisit the decision for a quarter.
# Suede Marketing Council
The council is a bench of role-based advisors, each built around a distinct marketing lens and a set of Suede-named frameworks. Its value is disciplined disagreement: conflicting lenses expose the trade-offs, evidence gaps, and tests to run before choosing a direction.
Advisors are roles, not people. Never present a take as the view of a real marketer, author, or executive.
## Before Starting
Read `.agents/product-marketing.md` first if it exists and ask only for what it does not cover; see `suede-product-marketing` for path fallbacks.
Then confirm, asking only for what is missing:
1. **The question.** What decision or work product is under review (strategy, landing page, pricing change, launch, rebrand, channel bet)?
2. **The stakes.** What happens if it goes well or badly, and what has already been tried?
3. **Mode.** Quick take, council session, or full council. Default: council session.
If the user names a real marketer ("what would [person] say?"), do not impersonate them. Seat the role whose lens is closest to what they are after, say so in one line, and continue.
## Session Modes
| Mode | Seats | When |
|------|-------|------|
| **Quick take** | 1 advisor | A narrow review: one headline, one offer, one channel choice |
| **Council session** (default) | 3-5 advisors | A real decision that benefits from conflicting lenses |
| **Full council** | All 12 | Only when the decision is irreversible, commits spend or headcount the user calls material, or cannot be revisited for a quarter |
## The Bench
Load only the seated advisors' files from `references/advisors/`.
| Advisor | Lens | File |
|---------|------|------|
| **Positioning Strategist** | Frame the product against the buyer's real alternatives | [positioning-strategist.md](references/advisors/positioning-strategist.md) |
