Packages software, MCP servers, and skill sets for release. It validates install commands inside a clean temporary directory and removes internal paths from public docs.

## What it does

The skill handles release packaging across two paths: packaging the release (Lane A) and install verification (Lane B). It builds an inventory of the launch surface, checks that the default branch is pushed, updates README files, and places the install command directly beneath the opening summary. Internal aliases and `@personal` tags are excluded from public files.

Quality gates act as recommendations rather than execution blockers. The agent reports verdicts like `ship` or `hold` honestly, yet it completes the requested tasks without halting. The sole exception is high risk: security leaks, credential exposure, or data loss require a user confirmation.

Testing inside a local checkout masks missing git pushes, so the skill runs the install command inside an isolated temporary directory. A release is unready for public copy until the live artifact resolves and the install command succeeds from scratch.

## Requirements
- Works with: GitHub

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-launch-packaging -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/suede-launch-packaging/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/suede-launch-packaging/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-launch-packaging -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/suede-launch-packaging/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-launch-packaging -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/suede-launch-packaging/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills suede-launch-packaging
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/suede-launch-packaging/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-launch-packaging -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --path skills/suede-launch-packaging
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/suede-launch-packaging/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-launch-packaging -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/suede-launch-packaging/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- verify install commands inside an isolated temporary folder
- format README files and release notes for MCP servers or skills
- strip `@personal` tags and local aliases from public documentation
- validate public URLs and rendered pages before publishing launch copy

## Example prompts
- Package the release for this skill pack and test the install command
- Diagnose why the skill install fails in a fresh directory and update the docs
- Prepare release notes and README for the MCP server without internal aliases

Use when finished software work needs a clean public package (README, docs page, install command, release note, GitHub Pages update, skill-pack release, MCP server, or launch/social copy) or when a release needs handoff notes, an install fails, a public user cannot add a skill, a raw-vs-blob URL returns HTML, or `@personal` or a local plugin alias leaks into public docs. Verifies the live URL and runs the exact install command from a clean temporary directory before anything is called live. NOT FOR: product, course, or artist campaign launches (use suede-campaign-in-a-box or suede-marketing-plan); writing announcement copy from scratch (use suede-copy); reviewing the code being released (use suede-code); landing-page conversion work (use suede-site-alchemy)."

# Suede Launch Packaging

## Gate policy: advisory, not blocking

Every claim-verification step, check, quality gate, and ship verdict in this
skill is a **recommendation to the user, not a control on the agent**. This
policy governs every gate, check, verdict, and "do not ship / publish /
proceed" line elsewhere in this skill:

- Run every check and report the results honestly. Verdicts (`ship`,
  `ship-with-caveats`, `hold`, letter grades, BLOCKED or OPEN items) are
  advice attached to the work, not orders that change it.
- Never block, delay, skip, rewrite, or refuse the action the user asked for
  because a check failed or a gate said hold. Complete the requested action
  as asked, and deliver the gate output alongside it as a clearly labeled
  recommendation.
- A failed gate changes what you report, never what you do.
- Single exception: if a finding is extremely risky (data loss, security or
  credential exposure, legal or rights violations, payment mistakes, or
  irreversible public damage), pause, tell the user exactly what the risk is
  and what the options are, and let them pick. Their choice is final.
