# suede-image

This skill walks through producing marketing images: heroes, banners, Open Graph previews, mockups taken from the real UI. Useful when a picture has to fit a specific placement.

## What it does

The skill picks a production route first: generation, editing files you supply, a locked template, a screenshot of the live interface with an overlay, or licensed photography. It checks which tools are actually callable in the session instead of assuming a named model or editor is connected. Then it gathers context — image type, placement, dimensions, existing brand assets, photorealistic or illustrative style.

Before any generation it runs through gates: tool availability, current documentation on sizes and commercial terms, rights to every uploaded logo and screenshot, budget approval. For text inside an image it recommends a deterministic overlay or a design template rather than generation. Product UI should be captured from the live authorized screen, not invented. When no renderer or editor is callable, you get a paste-ready prompt, a layout spec, an asset manifest and export checklists, with a clear note that no image was produced.

Prompts follow subject, setting, style, lighting, composition and technical parameters, and always name an aspect ratio. The skill tells you not to paste API keys into the chat and asks for explicit approval before a paid account is used. It does not cover paid-ad creative, video, app-store screenshots or social post strategy — sibling skills handle those.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-image -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/suede-image/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/suede-image/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-image -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/suede-image/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-image -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/suede-image/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills suede-image
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/suede-image/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-image -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --path skills/suede-image
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/suede-image/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-image -a opencode
```

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/suede-image/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a hero image for a specific placement and size
- generate an Open Graph preview for a page
- create a product mockup from the real interface
- verify rights to a logo and screenshot before upload
- export an image with the right compression and alt text

## Example prompts
- Make a hero image for the landing page, 16:9, clean commercial style, light from the left
- Build a product mockup: capture the app screen and overlay a headline
- Prepare an Open Graph image at 1200x630 and write the alt text

# Suede AI Marketing Image Production

Produce marketing imagery as a rights-aware, placement-specific system: choose the right production method, protect canonical brand assets, preserve real product truth, and verify the exported result. Use generation models and design tools to create efficient hero, social, mockup, banner, and preview workflows without fabricating interfaces or provenance.

## Before Starting

**Check for product marketing context first:**
If `.agents/product-marketing.md` exists (or `.claude/product-marketing.md`, or the legacy `product-marketing-context.md` filename, in older setups), read it before asking questions. Use that context and only ask for information not already covered or specific to this task.

Gather this context (ask if not provided):

### 1. Image Goal
- What type of image? (Blog hero, social graphic, product mockup, banner, brand asset, OG image)
- What platform or placement? (Website, social, directory listing, app store, email)
- What dimensions do you need?

### 2. Production Approach
- Do you have existing brand assets? (Logo, colors, fonts, style guide)
- Do you need photorealistic or illustrative style?
- Is this a one-off or a template for repeated use?

### 3. Technical Context
- Which image, browser, design, or local conversion tools are currently callable?
- What is the approved maximum cost and data-handling boundary?
- Do you need the image optimized for web performance?

Do not ask the user to paste API keys or secrets into the conversation.
