## What it does

The skill routes Stripe documentation and API reference requests through `stripe docs` instead of `curl` or `WebFetch`. It can read a page by web path, search by keyword, and look up an API resource, an HTTP method and path, or an event type.

The command fetches Markdown automatically. Gated documentation requires `stripe login`, and CLI versions below `v1.50.9` cannot access it. That makes checking the CLI version necessary before requesting gated pages.

The skill is built for agent and terminal workflows. Its available commands are `stripe docs`, `stripe login`, and `stripe version`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Stripe

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add stripe/ai --skill stripe-docs -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/stripe-docs/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/stripe-docs/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add stripe/ai --skill stripe-docs -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/stripe-docs/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add stripe/ai --skill stripe-docs -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/stripe-docs/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install stripe/ai stripe-docs
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/stripe-docs/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add stripe/ai --skill stripe-docs -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/stripe/ai --path skills/stripe-docs
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/stripe-docs/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add stripe/ai --skill stripe-docs -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/stripe/ai/tree/HEAD/skills/stripe-docs/SKILL.md

## When to use it

- search Stripe docs by keyword
- look up an API resource or HTTP endpoint
- find reference material for an event type

Use `stripe docs` instead of fetching [docs.stripe.com](https://docs.stripe.com/.md) content directly with `curl` or `WebFetch`. If you don’t have the CLI installed, [install the Stripe CLI](https://docs.stripe.com/cli/install).

Always use the latest CLI version. If the current CLI version is less than v1.50.9, you must [upgrade](https://docs.stripe.com/cli/install) to access gated documentation.
