# stream-swift

This skill wires Stream Chat, Video and Feeds into Swift projects by picking the exact official docs page for a request and applying it straight into the code.

## What it does

The skill carries no bundled copy of the SDK reference. Instead it reads the request, works out the product (Chat, Video or Feeds), the framework (SwiftUI or UIKit) and the mode: a how-to lookup, a fresh integration, a new app, a Sendbird migration, or an AI assistant built on the `StreamChatAI` components. From there it resolves the matching page on GetStream's live docs, appends `.md` to the URL and pulls it through `WebFetch` rather than guessing a path from memory.

For AI work it tells apart several shapes: a standalone ChatGPT-style app, a bot dropped into an existing messenger, an agent that surfaces its reasoning and asks before running tools, device-side tool calls, and a voice agent whose transcript renders as a chat through `AIConversationView`. The first shape calls for `stream-chat-swift` 5.13.0 or newer with the `StreamChatAI` module; without that version the skill falls back to the standalone `stream-chat-swift-ai` package.

A Sendbird migration keeps app code changes to a minimum: it swaps the packages and initialization, re-implements each integration point against Stream, restores the original theming, then checks screen-by-screen fidelity against the Sendbird version. Building or integrating needs an actual Xcode or Swift/iOS project, and push or CallKit setup goes through the Stream CLI to provision a push provider first.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add GetStream/agent-skills --skill stream-swift -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/stream-swift/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/stream-swift/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add GetStream/agent-skills --skill stream-swift -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/stream-swift/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add GetStream/agent-skills --skill stream-swift -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/stream-swift/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install GetStream/agent-skills stream-swift
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/stream-swift/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add GetStream/agent-skills --skill stream-swift -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/GetStream/agent-skills --path skills/stream-swift
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/stream-swift/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add GetStream/agent-skills --skill stream-swift -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/GetStream/agent-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/stream-swift/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- wire Stream Chat or Video into an existing iOS project
- build a ChatGPT-style assistant with streaming replies and a thinking indicator
- surface an agent's reasoning and tool calls with an approval step
- migrate a Sendbird chat app to Stream while keeping the screen design
- set up push notifications and CallKit ringing for Stream Video

## Example prompts
- Wire Stream Chat into my SwiftUI app
- Migrate our Sendbird chat to Stream and keep the current screen designs
- Build a chat AI assistant with streaming replies and a thinking indicator using StreamChatAI

# Stream Swift - docs orchestrator for iOS

This skill is **small on purpose**. It does not bundle SDK reference dumps - the official iOS docs are the source of truth and they cover the *entire* surface (Chat, Video, Feeds; SwiftUI and UIKit; polls, drafts, voice, AI, push, screen share, CallKit, SIP, transcriptions, moderation, and more).

Your job is to **orchestrate**: classify the request, point to the *exact* docs page, fetch it live, and apply it inside the user's project - while obeying the curated rules and pitfalls that the docs do not shout about.

**Rules (read once per session):** [`RULES.md`](RULES.md) - non-negotiable rules + iOS pitfalls. Read before writing any code.

---

## The docs convention (the core mechanism)

Every Stream docs page has a Markdown twin that coding agents can read directly: **take the page URL, drop the trailing `/`, add `.md`.**

```
https://getstream.io/chat/docs/sdk/ios/basics/integration/   ->   https://getstream.io/chat/docs/sdk/ios/basics/integration.md
```

Always fetch the `.md` variant - it is clean Markdown with verbatim code, no page chrome.
