## What it does

This skill initializes Storybook for a selected framework and adds configuration for controls, actions, accessibility checks, and visual regression. It defines story and MDX discovery paths, enables autodocs, and includes `public` as a static directory.

The setup uses `.storybook/main.ts` and `.storybook/preview.ts` for framework, theme, viewport, background, and TypeScript settings. Component examples follow CSF3 and can cover variants and states. Choose a framework during initialization: the provided commands cover `react`, `nextjs`, and `vue3`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill storybook-setup -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/storybook-setup/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/storybook-setup/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill storybook-setup -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/storybook-setup/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill storybook-setup -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/storybook-setup/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install patricio0312rev/skills storybook-setup
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/storybook-setup/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill storybook-setup -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/patricio0312rev/skills --path foundation/storybook-setup
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/storybook-setup/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add patricio0312rev/skills --skill storybook-setup -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/patricio0312rev/skills/tree/HEAD/foundation/storybook-setup/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- initialize Storybook in an existing project
- document components with stories and MDX
- add controls and actions to component examples
- run accessibility checks for UI components
- set up visual regression testing

## Example prompts
- Set up Storybook for this project and create the files under `.storybook`.
- Add stories for the components in `src` with controls, actions, and autodocs.
- Configure accessibility checks and visual regression for the Storybook setup.

# Storybook Setup

Configure Storybook for comprehensive component documentation and testing.

## Core Workflow

1. **Initialize Storybook**: Setup with framework
2. **Configure addons**: Controls, actions, a11y
3. **Write stories**: Document components
4. **Add documentation**: MDX pages
5. **Setup testing**: Visual regression
6. **Deploy docs**: Static hosting

## Installation

```bash
# Initialize Storybook
npx storybook@latest init
# Or with specific framework
npx storybook@latest init --type react
npx storybook@latest init --type nextjs
