## What it does

The skill holds runbooks for the usual breakage: SSO lockouts, network trouble, laptop performance, and admin work on macOS, Windows and Linux. Commands are meant to be pasted as they are. Google Workspace goes through `gam`, Okta through API calls with a token, Wi-Fi and DNS through `networksetup`, `nmcli`, `netsh` and `ipconfig`.

Triage comes first, ordered by blast radius: company-wide outages, then executive and customer-facing blockers, then team-wide degradation, and individual workstations last. Two questions drive it — how many people are affected, and is revenue hit. Okta needs an API token, and `speedtest-cli` has to be installed with pip.

There is fleet housekeeping too: a Brewfile for Macs, FileVault checks, updates via `softwareupdate`, a Windows Update component reset, BitLocker and Remote Desktop. The text cuts off in the Linux drivers section, so I would not judge the rest of it. Without GAM set up or an Okta token, the identity scenarios stay theoretical — worth preparing before someone gets locked out at midnight, not during.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill startup-it-troubleshooting -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/startup-it-troubleshooting/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/startup-it-troubleshooting/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill startup-it-troubleshooting -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/startup-it-troubleshooting/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill startup-it-troubleshooting -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/startup-it-troubleshooting/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills startup-it-troubleshooting
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/startup-it-troubleshooting/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill startup-it-troubleshooting -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --path infrastructure/it/startup-it-troubleshooting
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/startup-it-troubleshooting/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills --skill startup-it-troubleshooting -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/BagelHole/DevOps-Security-Agent-Skills/tree/HEAD/infrastructure/it/startup-it-troubleshooting/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- unlock a user in Google Workspace or Okta
- reset a password and issue new MFA backup codes
- fix Wi-Fi and DNS on macOS, Linux and Windows
- bring a WireGuard or Tailscale VPN back up
- free disk space and find the process eating memory

## Example prompts
- A user is locked out of Google Workspace, reset the password and unsuspend the account
- Wi-Fi keeps dropping on calls, run the diagnostics and restart the adapter
- My laptop is out of disk space, show me what takes up the most

# Startup IT Troubleshooting

Runbooks for startups and small teams where engineers double as the IT department.

## When to Use

You are the "accidental IT person." Nobody has IT in their title, but laptops freeze, Wi-Fi drops during investor demos, someone gets locked out of Google Workspace at midnight, and a new hire starts Monday with zero accounts. This skill gives you copy-paste commands to handle it all.

**Priority triage:** (1) Company-wide outages, (2) Executive/customer-facing blockers, (3) Team-wide degradations, (4) Individual workstation issues. Always ask: "How many people are affected?" and "Is revenue impacted?"

## SSO / Identity Lockouts

### Google Workspace via GAM

```bash
bash <(curl -s -S -L https://gam-shortn.appspot.com/gam-install)  # install GAM
gam oauth create                                                     # authorize
gam update user jane@company.com password "TempPass123!" changepassword on  # reset password
gam update user jane@company.com suspended off       # unsuspend locked-out user
gam user jane@company.com signout                    # force sign-out all sessions
gam user jane@company.com update backupcodes         # new MFA backup codes
gam user jane@company.com turnoff2sv                 # disable 2SV (re-enable within 24h)
```

### Okta API

```bash
OKTA="company.okta.com"; T="your-api-token"; UID="00u1abcdef"
curl -X POST -H "Authorization: SSWS $T" "https://$OKTA/api/v1/users/$UID/lifecycle/unlock"
curl -X POST -H "Authorization: SSWS $T" "https://$OKTA/api/v1/users/$UID/lifecycle/reset_password?sendEmail=true"
curl -X POST -H "Authorization: SSWS $T" "https://$OKTA/api/v1/users/$UID/lifecycle/reset_factors"
curl -X DELETE -H "Authorization: SSWS $T" "https://$OKTA/api/v1/users/$UID/sessions"
```

**MFA recovery flow:** Verify identity via video call, generate backup codes or reset factors, have user re-enroll immediately, confirm old device is deregistered, log the incident.

---

## Network Troubleshooting

### Wi-Fi Debugging

```bash
# macOS
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resources/airport -I
