## What it does

This skill evaluates daily sync requests. It decides whether your team needs a live call or can drop the recurring meeting altogether. The main goal is cutting status theater while surfacing delivery blockers.

The workflow has three steps. First, the agent classifies the required cadence. Then it reviews work items from Linear or Jira. Finally, it suggests a lean format like a board-walk or blocker-first triage.

This skill targets lateral peer coordination. It does not produce manager-facing surveillance reports. For backlog grooming, route the request to `task-planning`, use `task-estimation` for sizing, and rely on `sprint-retrospective` for process review.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill standup-meeting -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/standup-meeting/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/standup-meeting/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill standup-meeting -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/standup-meeting/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill standup-meeting -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/standup-meeting/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install akillness/jeo-skills standup-meeting
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/standup-meeting/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill standup-meeting -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/akillness/jeo-skills --path .agent-skills/standup-meeting
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/standup-meeting/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill standup-meeting -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- replace long status meetings with async check-ins
- choose an agile sync cadence for launch week
- surface blockers without turning standups into status theater
- eliminate unnecessary recurring meetings when issue boards stay updated

## Example prompts
- Our daily standup takes 40 minutes and feels like a status report, help us fix it
- Review our Linear board and decide if we need a live daily standup
- Set up an async check-in template for a distributed team across four timezones

# Standup Meeting

Use this skill when the job is to turn vague daily coordination into **one honest cadence decision, one small evidence packet, and one follow-up path**.

`standup-meeting` owns:
- daily-coordination cadence truth
- standup mode selection when a recurring sync is justified
- blocker / handoff visibility
- short facilitation flow and update templates
- clear separation between the core sync and follow-up huddles
- anti-status-theater guardrails
- explicit `less-frequent` / `no recurring standup` outcomes when daily ritual is unjustified

Read these references before unusual cases or when the request starts to sprawl:
- [references/cadence-gates-and-exceptions.md](references/cadence-gates-and-exceptions.md)
- [references/facilitation-modes.md](references/facilitation-modes.md)
- [references/intake-packets-and-route-outs.md](references/intake-packets-and-route-outs.md)

## When to use this skill
- A user asks for a daily standup, daily scrum, daily sync, or async check-in format.
- A team needs to decide whether daily live cadence is still justified before choosing board-walk, blocker-first, async, hybrid, or classic three-question standups.
- A daily ritual is running too long, drifting into status reporting, or generating too many side discussions.
- A remote or hybrid team needs a lighter way to coordinate blockers and handoffs.
- A launch / milestone / firefighting window may justify a temporary daily cadence even if the normal answer is lighter.
- The best next artifact is a **Coordination Cadence Brief** with one cadence decision, one mode (if any), and one escalation path.
