## What it does

The skill is a reference for Diffusers with runnable code samples. Your agent gets snippets for text-to-image, image-to-image, inpainting and ControlNet, plus a scheduler table with suggested step counts and a rundown of generation parameters: `num_inference_steps`, `guidance_scale`, `negative_prompt`, and a `generator` for reproducible output.

It also explains the three-part pipeline — model, scheduler, orchestration — and shows how to swap the scheduler for faster runs. SD 1.5, SDXL, SD 3.0 and Flux are covered, along with LoRA.

You need `diffusers>=0.30.0`, `transformers>=4.41.0`, `accelerate>=0.31.0` and `torch>=2.0.0`. The samples assume CUDA: `pipe.to("cuda")` with `torch.float16`. On a CPU-only box you will be rewriting that part yourself.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill stable-diffusion-image-generation -a claude-code
```
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill stable-diffusion -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/stable-diffusion/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/stable-diffusion/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill stable-diffusion -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/stable-diffusion/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill stable-diffusion -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/stable-diffusion/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs stable-diffusion
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/stable-diffusion/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill stable-diffusion -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --path 18-multimodal/stable-diffusion
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/stable-diffusion/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Orchestra-Research/AI-Research-SKILLs --skill stable-diffusion -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- generate an image from a text prompt
- restyle a photo with image-to-image
- fill a masked region in a picture
- add spatial conditioning with ControlNet
- build a custom Diffusers pipeline

## Example prompts
- Generate a mountain landscape at sunset with Stable Diffusion
- Turn input.jpg into a watercolor painting, strength 0.75
- Inpaint the region in mask.png — put a red car there

# Stable Diffusion Image Generation

Comprehensive guide to generating images with Stable Diffusion using the HuggingFace Diffusers library.

## When to use Stable Diffusion

**Use Stable Diffusion when:**
- Generating images from text descriptions
- Performing image-to-image translation (style transfer, enhancement)
- Inpainting (filling in masked regions)
- Outpainting (extending images beyond boundaries)
- Creating variations of existing images
- Building custom image generation workflows

**Key features:**
- **Text-to-Image**: Generate images from natural language prompts
- **Image-to-Image**: Transform existing images with text guidance
- **Inpainting**: Fill masked regions with context-aware content
- **ControlNet**: Add spatial conditioning (edges, poses, depth)
- **LoRA Support**: Efficient fine-tuning and style adaptation
- **Multiple Models**: SD 1.5, SDXL, SD 3.0, Flux support

**Use alternatives instead:**
- **DALL-E 3**: For API-based generation without GPU
- **Midjourney**: For artistic, stylized outputs
- **Imagen**: For Google Cloud integration
- **Leonardo.ai**: For web-based creative workflows

## Quick start

### Installation

```bash
pip install diffusers transformers accelerate torch
pip install xformers  # Optional: memory-efficient attention
```

### Basic text-to-image

```python
from diffusers import DiffusionPipeline
import torch
# Load pipeline (auto-detects model type)
pipe = DiffusionPipeline.from_pretrained(
    "stable-diffusion-v1-5/stable-diffusion-v1-5",
    torch_dtype=torch.float16
)
pipe.to("cuda")
# Generate image
image = pipe(
    "A serene mountain landscape at sunset, highly detailed",
    num_inference_steps=50,
    guidance_scale=7.5
).images[0]
image.save("output.png")
```

### Using SDXL (higher quality)

```python
from diffusers import AutoPipelineForText2Image
import torch
pipe = AutoPipelineForText2Image.from_pretrained(
    "stabilityai/stable-diffusion-xl-base-1.0",
    torch_dtype=torch.float16,
    variant="fp16"
)
pipe.to("cuda")
# Enable memory optimization
pipe.enable_model_cpu_offload()
image = pipe(
    prompt="A futuristic city with flying cars, cinematic lighting",
    height=1024,
