# spreadsheet

## What it does

The skill gives the agent a fixed routine for tabular work: pin down the file type and the goal first, then pick the tool. Editing `.xlsx` goes through `openpyxl`; analysis and `.csv`/`.tsv` files go through `pandas`. Layout matters? The agent renders the sheet to PNG so someone can look at it.

Formula rules are spelled out. Derived values stay as formulas, not pasted numbers, and cell references replace hardcoded constants. Error values such as `#REF!` and `#DIV/0!` get checked. Note the catch: `openpyxl` never evaluates formulas, so results appear only when the file opens in Excel or Sheets.

For visual review you need LibreOffice (`soffice`) and Poppler (`pdftoppm`) — without them rendering does not happen. Packages install with `uv pip install openpyxl pandas`, and `matplotlib` is listed for chart-heavy work.
