## What it does

The skill drafts patent application sections from claims and invention disclosure files. Primary inputs come from `patent/CLAIMS.md` and `patent/INVENTION_DISCLOSURE.md`. Output documents are placed into `patent/specification/` across separate files for the title, technical field, background, summary, drawings, detailed description, and abstract. Starting the process without drafted claims in `patent/` will cause it to fail immediately.

Drafting adheres to guidelines for jurisdictions like CN, US, or EP. Formulas and exact numerical metrics are kept out of the summary section because they belong in the detailed description. The workflow triggers `/figure-description` and `/embodiment-description` as sub-skills. After writing the sections, the agent builds a claim support table to confirm that every claim element maps to the description.

A built-in review step delegates specification assessment to an external model via `mcp__codex__codex`. The skill sets `gpt-6-astra` with `xhigh` reasoning effort, reading custom routes from `.aris/reviewer.json`. All drafts stay in Markdown format.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill specification-writing -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/specification-writing/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/specification-writing/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill specification-writing -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/specification-writing/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill specification-writing -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/specification-writing/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep specification-writing
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/specification-writing/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill specification-writing -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --path skills/specification-writing
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/specification-writing/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep --skill specification-writing -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wanshuiyin/Auto-claude-code-research-in-sleep/tree/HEAD/skills/specification-writing/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- split patent specification drafts into dedicated section files
- map every claim element to detailed description paragraphs
- keep mathematical formulas and test metrics out of the invention summary
- draft patent descriptions aligned with CN, US, or EP guidelines

## Example prompts
- Write the full patent specification from `patent/CLAIMS.md`
- Draft the patent description based on our invention disclosure
- Generate patent specification sections for US jurisdiction using `patent/CLAIMS.md`

# Specification Writing: Section-by-Section Patent Description

> **Before each reviewer slot**, follow [Selectable Reviewers](../shared-references/reviewer-backends.md):
> resolve invocation → `.aris/reviewer.json` → Claude Code default (Codex MCP)
> with `reviewer_route.py` through the canonical helper resolver, preserving this
> slot's tier, fresh contexts, source/image inputs and deterministic gates.
> Codex examples/pins below apply only to `backend=codex`; other routes use their

Write the patent specification based on: **$ARGUMENTS**

Adapted from `/paper-write` for patent specifications. The specification supports the claims -- it is not a paper.

## Constants

- `REVIEWER_MODEL = gpt-6-astra` — External reviewer for specification quality
- `JURISDICTION = "auto"` — Inherit from pipeline or detect from args; `CN`, `US`, `EP`, `ALL`
- `OUTPUT_FORMAT = "markdown"` — Markdown drafts; converted to filing format by `/jurisdiction-format`
- `OUTPUT_DIR = "patent/"` — Base output directory
- `LANGUAGE = "auto"` — Auto from jurisdiction: CN->Chinese, US/EP->English

## Inputs

1. `patent/CLAIMS.md` — the drafted claims (primary source)
2. `patent/INVENTION_DISCLOSURE.md` — invention decomposition
