## What it does

The skill routes Apple documentation requests through the `sosumi.ai` service. Instead of parsing heavy HTML pages from `developer.apple.com`, coding agents receive plain Markdown text. It covers standard frameworks like `Swift`, `SwiftUI`, `UIKit`, `AppKit`, and `Foundation`, alongside Human Interface Guidelines, WWDC video session transcripts, and hosted Swift-DocC articles.

Agents resolve API pages directly by switching the host to `sosumi.ai` or searching when the exact symbol path is unknown. When configured as an MCP server at `https://sosumi.ai/mcp`, it exposes tools such as `searchAppleDocumentation`, `fetchAppleDocumentation`, `fetchAppleVideoTranscript`, and `fetchExternalDocumentation`. A local `sosumi` CLI is also supported for connectivity testing.

Do not rely on protocol conformance conditions shown in Apple doc data, as they occasionally omit requirements. For critical implementation checks, inspect declarations directly inside the SDK `.swiftinterface` file. External DocC lookups will also fail whenever host domains restrict access through `robots.txt` rules.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add NSHipster/sosumi.ai --skill sosumi -a claude-code
```
```bash
npx skills add NSHipster/sosumi.ai --skill public -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/public/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/public/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add NSHipster/sosumi.ai --skill public -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/public/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add NSHipster/sosumi.ai --skill public -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/public/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install NSHipster/sosumi.ai public
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/public/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add NSHipster/sosumi.ai --skill public -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/NSHipster/sosumi.ai --path public
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/public/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add NSHipster/sosumi.ai --skill public -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/NSHipster/sosumi.ai/tree/HEAD/public/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- inspect Apple framework API signatures and parameter rules
- read WWDC session transcripts in Markdown format
- review Human Interface Guidelines for design decisions
- fetch external Swift-DocC documentation for third-party packages

## Example prompts
- Fetch the Apple documentation for Array via sosumi
- Search the Human Interface Guidelines for color foundations
- Retrieve the transcript for WWDC 2021 session 10133

# Sosumi Skill

Use this skill to reliably fetch Apple docs as Markdown when coding agents need precise API details.

## When to Use

Use Sosumi when the request involves any of the following:

- Apple platform APIs (`Swift`, `SwiftUI`, `UIKit`, `AppKit`, `Foundation`, etc.)
- API signatures, availability, parameter behavior, or return semantics
- Human Interface Guidelines questions
- WWDC session transcript lookup
- External Swift-DocC documentation (for example, GitHub Pages or Swift Package Index hosts)

## Core Workflow

1. If you already have a `developer.apple.com` URL, replace the host with `sosumi.ai` and keep the same path.
2. If you do not know the exact page path, search first, then fetch the best match.
3. Prefer specific symbol pages instead of broad top-level pages when answering implementation questions.

### Optional CLI Preflight

If the Sosumi CLI is available, quickly verify local access before deeper debugging:

- `sosumi --version` confirms the CLI is installed and on `PATH`.
- `sosumi --help` shows top-level usage.
- `sosumi <command> --help` is the manual for command-specific behavior.

## HTTP Usage

Replace `developer.apple.com` with `sosumi.ai`:

- Original: `https://developer.apple.com/documentation/swift/array`
- AI-readable: `https://sosumi.ai/documentation/swift/array`

## Content Types

### Apple API Reference

- Pattern: `https://sosumi.ai/documentation/{framework}/{symbol}`
- Examples:
  - `https://sosumi.ai/documentation/swift/array`
  - `https://sosumi.ai/documentation/swiftui/view`

### Human Interface Guidelines

- Pattern: `https://sosumi.ai/design/human-interface-guidelines/{topic}`
- Examples:
  - `https://sosumi.ai/design/human-interface-guidelines`
  - `https://sosumi.ai/design/human-interface-guidelines/foundations/color`

### Apple Video Transcripts

- Pattern: `https://sosumi.ai/videos/play/{collection}/{id}`
- Examples:
  - `https://sosumi.ai/videos/play/wwdc2021/10133`
  - `https://sosumi.ai/videos/play/meet-with-apple/208`

### External Swift-DocC

- Pattern: `https://sosumi.ai/external/{full-https-url}`
- Examples:
  - `https://sosumi.ai/external/https://apple.github.io/swift-argument-parser/documentation/argumentparser/`
  - `https://sosumi.ai/external/https://swiftpackageindex.com/pointfreeco/swift-composable-architecture/1.23.1/documentation/composablearchitecture`

## MCP Tools Quick Reference

Use these when Sosumi is configured as an MCP server (`https://sosumi.ai/mcp`):

| Tool | Parameters | Use |
|---|---|---|
| `searchAppleDocumentation` | `query: string` | Search Apple documentation and return structured results |
```
