# solana-rpc

This skill gives your agent direct Solana blockchain access over JSON-RPC: balances, token accounts, transactions, program accounts. Useful when higher-level APIs lack the data you need.

## What it does

The skill documents Solana JSON-RPC calls with Python wrappers. Reads cover `getBalance`, `getAccountInfo`, `getTokenAccountsByOwner`, `getTokenLargestAccounts`, `getTransaction`, `getBlock`, `getLatestBlockhash` and `getProgramAccounts`. Writes go through `sendTransaction` and `simulateTransaction` with a base64 transaction, plus a polling helper that checks `getSignatureStatuses` until confirmation.

A provider table lists Helius, QuickNode, Triton, Shyft, Alchemy and the public `mainnet-beta` endpoint with their tiers. The public endpoint is free but rate limited, and the skill's author warns against using it for production trading. Helius or QuickNode are the recommended picks for development, so expect to need a key and a `SOLANA_RPC_URL` value.

Commitment levels get their own section: `processed`, `confirmed`, `finalized`. For trading the author suggests `confirmed`, since the default differs between providers. One more warning: `getProgramAccounts` without `dataSize` or `memcmp` filters can return millions of rows and time out.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill solana-rpc -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/solana-rpc/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/solana-rpc/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill solana-rpc -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/solana-rpc/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill solana-rpc -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/solana-rpc/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills solana-rpc
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/solana-rpc/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill solana-rpc -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --path skills/solana-rpc
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/solana-rpc/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill solana-rpc -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/solana-rpc/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- check SOL and SPL token balances for a wallet
- list a token's largest holders with supply percentages
- submit a signed transaction and wait for confirmation
- pull a parsed transaction by its signature
- enumerate program accounts filtered by size and data

## Example prompts
- show the SOL balance and all SPL tokens for this wallet
- get the top 20 holders of this mint with their share of supply
- simulate this transaction before sending, then confirm it via getSignatureStatuses

# Solana RPC — Direct Blockchain Interaction

The Solana JSON-RPC API provides direct read/write access to the blockchain. Use it for account state queries, token balance lookups, transaction building and submission, and program account enumeration. This is the low-level foundation when higher-level APIs (Birdeye, Helius, SolanaTracker) don't have the data you need.

## Quick Start

```python
import httpx
RPC = os.getenv("SOLANA_RPC_URL", "https://api.mainnet-beta.solana.com")
def rpc_call(method: str, params: list = None) -> dict:
    resp = httpx.post(RPC, json={
        "jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 1,
        "method": method, "params": params or [],
    }, timeout=30.0)
    return resp.json()
# Get SOL balance
result = rpc_call("getBalance", ["WALLET_PUBKEY"])
sol_balance = result["result"]["value"] / 1e9
# Get latest blockhash
result = rpc_call("getLatestBlockhash")
blockhash = result["result"]["value"]["blockhash"]
```

## RPC Providers

| Provider | Free Tier | Paid | Notes |
|----------|-----------|------|-------|
| Helius | 50K credits/day | $49+/mo | Enhanced RPCs, DAS API |
| QuickNode | Limited | $49+/mo | Multi-chain, WebSocket |
| Triton | No free tier | ~$300+/mo | Yellowstone gRPC bundled |
| Shyft | Limited | $49+/mo | Yellowstone gRPC bundled |
| Alchemy | 300M CU/mo | Scaling | Good free tier |
| Public (mainnet-beta) | Free | — | Rate limited, unreliable |

**Recommendation**: Use Helius or QuickNode for development. Never use public RPC for production trading.

## Core Read Methods

### Account & Balance

```python
# SOL balance (in lamports, divide by 1e9 for SOL)
getBalance(pubkey, {commitment: "confirmed"})
# Full account info (data, owner, lamports, executable)
getAccountInfo(pubkey, {encoding: "jsonParsed"})
# Multiple accounts in one call
getMultipleAccounts([pubkey1, pubkey2], {encoding: "jsonParsed"})
```

### Token Accounts

```python
# All SPL token accounts owned by a wallet
getTokenAccountsByOwner(wallet_pubkey, {
    "programId": "TokenkegQfeZyiNwAJbNbGKPFXCWuBvf9Ss623VQ5DA"
}, {"encoding": "jsonParsed"})
# Token balance for a specific token account
getTokenAccountBalance(token_account_pubkey)
# Largest token accounts (top holders)
getTokenLargestAccounts(mint_pubkey)
# Total supply of a token
getTokenSupply(mint_pubkey)
```

### Transaction Data

```python
# Get parsed transaction by signature
getTransaction(signature, {
    "encoding": "jsonParsed",
````
