## What it does

The skill covers the `solana-mobile` CLI, which handles scaffolding, environment checks and emulator management. Run it without installing: `npx solana-mobile@latest --help`. There are equivalents for pnpm and bun — `pnpm dlx solana-mobile@latest` and `bunx solana-mobile@latest`. Match whichever package manager the project already uses, and keep `@latest` so the runner does not reuse an older cached version.

Commands map to jobs: `create` for a new project, `doctor` for the Android and Node toolchain, `emu` (`emulator`) for creating and running emulators, `device` for installing APKs and preparing a device, `localnet` for a validator the device can reach, `playground` for testing a wallet without building an app. Do not guess at flags — `--help` on any command is authoritative, and the full list lives in `references/cli.md`.

The hard constraint: Mobile Wallet Adapter needs a development build, and Expo Go will not work, because MWA depends on native Android modules Expo Go does not bundle. If wallet connection fails in Expo Go, that is the cause and there is no workaround — you need `expo run:android`. Android is the only platform with wallet support; iOS builds run, but no MWA. The first Android build is slow thanks to a Gradle cold start, later builds reuse the cache.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add solana-mobile/solana-mobile-skills --skill solana-mobile -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/solana-mobile/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/solana-mobile/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add solana-mobile/solana-mobile-skills --skill solana-mobile -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/solana-mobile/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add solana-mobile/solana-mobile-skills --skill solana-mobile -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/solana-mobile/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install solana-mobile/solana-mobile-skills solana-mobile
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/solana-mobile/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add solana-mobile/solana-mobile-skills --skill solana-mobile -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/solana-mobile/solana-mobile-skills --path skills/solana-mobile
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/solana-mobile/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add solana-mobile/solana-mobile-skills --skill solana-mobile -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/solana-mobile/solana-mobile-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/solana-mobile/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- scaffold a new Solana Mobile app on Expo
- add Solana to an existing Expo app
- check the Android and Node toolchain before debugging a build
- create an emulator and install a test wallet into it
- run a local validator the device can reach

## Example prompts
- create a new Solana Mobile project from the expo-kit-wallet template
- run solana-mobile doctor and tell me what is missing
- start the local_phone emulator with --tune and install fakewallet on it

# Solana Mobile projects

Set up and maintain Solana Mobile apps. The `solana-mobile` CLI does the scaffolding,
environment checks, and emulator management — prefer it over hand-rolled setup.

Run it without installing:

```bash
npx solana-mobile@latest --help
```

`pnpm dlx solana-mobile@latest` and `bunx solana-mobile@latest` are the equivalents. Match
whichever package manager the project already uses, and keep `@latest` so the runner does not
reuse an older cached version.

| `device` | [Installing APKs, opening URLs, preparing a device](#work-with-a-connected-device) |
| `doctor` | [Checking the toolchain](#check-the-environment) |
| `emulator` (`emu`) | [Creating and running emulators](#manage-android-emulators) |
| `localnet` | [A local validator the device can reach](#run-a-local-validator) |
| `playground` | [Testing a wallet without building an app](#test-a-wallet-without-an-app) |
| `templates` | Maintaining a template repository — template authors only |
| `webshell` | Wrapping an existing web app in an Android WebView shell |

Every flag of every command: [references/cli.md](references/cli.md). Do not guess at flags —
the CLI ships its own help, and `--help` on any command is authoritative.

## Non-negotiable constraint

**Mobile Wallet Adapter requires a development build. Expo Go will not work** — MWA depends
on native Android modules that Expo Go does not bundle. If someone reports wallet
connection failing in Expo Go, that is the cause; there is no workaround, they need
`expo run:android`.

Android is the only platform with wallet support. iOS builds run, but no MWA.
