## What it does

social-seo treats search on social platforms as its own layer. People search TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and LinkedIn for different intents, and feed-only optimization leaves you invisible to anyone actively looking. The lever is keywords, not hashtags — hashtags are a minor category signal.

The skill runs six steps. It loads `brand-profile.md` and `audience.md` first, so the audience's own search language drives everything. Then keyword research via platform autocomplete, related searches, comments and native search analytics. Next comes placement across indexed surfaces: TikTok gets spoken audio, on-screen text and caption (the triple mention), Instagram gets caption, the searchable name field, bio and alt text, YouTube gets a keyword-led title, description and transcript. After that: topical clusters and the profile as a search asset.

The agent cannot pull live search volumes, and the skill forbids inventing numbers — you get the method and work from intent and specificity instead. Hashtag specifics route to `hashtag-strategy`; the AI-search citation layer goes to `ai-search-optimization`. Measurement stays on native platform search insights, not WoopSocial. Ask for exact volumes or 30 hashtags and it pushes back: stuffing dilutes the topical signal.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill social-seo -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/social-seo/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/social-seo/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill social-seo -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/social-seo/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill social-seo -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/social-seo/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills social-seo
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/social-seo/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill social-seo -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/social-seo
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/social-seo/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill social-seo -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/social-seo/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- find the queries people actually type into TikTok and YouTube
- place keywords across each platform's indexed fields
- build an evergreen cluster around one pillar topic
- rewrite the name field and bio so the profile gets found
- track which search terms bring people to your posts

## Example prompts
- run social-seo for my TikTok account, I want to show up in search
- find keywords for YouTube and map them to title, description and captions
- build an evergreen cluster around home workouts

  Use to make social content discoverable through SEARCH across social platforms — the
  social-SEO / keyword-discovery skill. Run when the user says "social SEO," "get found in search,"
  "TikTok SEO," "YouTube SEO," "keywords for social," "searchable captions," or wants search across
  platforms rather than just the feed. For single-platform depth, route "Instagram SEO" to
  instagram-seo and Pinterest asks to pinterest-seo; this skill owns the cross-platform framework.
  Reads brand-profile and audience first. All platforms are search engines; keywords, not hashtags,
  are the lever. Covers per-platform indexed surfaces, keyword research via autocomplete + native
  analytics (never fabricates volumes), the triple-mention technique, topical clusters, and the
  profile as a search asset. Routes hashtags to hashtag-strategy; hands the AI-search/LLM-citation
  (GEO) layer to ai-search-optimization. Measures via native search insights, not WoopSocial analytics.

# Social SEO

Make content **findable when people search**, not just visible when the feed happens to show it. In
2026 every social platform is a search engine, and search is the highest-intent, most **evergreen**
discovery there is.

Four truths shape everything:

1. **All social platforms are search engines** (TikTok/IG/YouTube/Pinterest/LinkedIn) — and people
   search *different* platforms for different intents. If you only optimize for the feed, you're
   invisible to people actively looking.
2. **Keywords, not hashtags, are the lever.** Write for the search bar first; hashtags are a minor
   category signal → `hashtag-strategy`.
3. **Search optimization doubles as recommendation optimization** — the keywords that get you found in
   search are the same signals the algorithm uses to categorize you for the right feed/FYP audience.
4. **SEO turns posts into evergreen assets** — a search-optimized post keeps getting found for months;
   a feed post dies in ~48h.

(Full model + the AI-search/GEO boundary: `references/why-social-search.md`.)

## Step 0 — Read the foundation + the goal

Load `brand-profile.md` and `audience.md` (their exact search language matters). Get the **platform(s)**
and what the user wants to be **found for**.

## Step 1 — Keyword research (real demand, never invented)

Find the terms people actually search via **platform autocomplete**, **"others searched for"**,
