# social-media-generator

Writes platform-specific posts for Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook, then files them into folders with readable names. Handy when one announcement has to go out everywhere at once.

## What it does

The skill kicks in when you ask for social media content. It first collects the inputs: event or content name, date and time as `DD-MM-YYYY-HHMM`, the main message, audience, key details, call to action, hashtags and mentions, preferred tone. Anything missing gets asked back.

Each platform then gets its own draft built from a template in `assets/`. The limits differ. Twitter stays under 280 characters with one to three hashtags. Instagram wants a strong opening line and 5–15 hashtags. LinkedIn takes a professional voice and 3–5 hashtags. Facebook reads conversational and works best under 250 characters. Templates ship as `twitter_template.md`, `instagram_template.md`, `linkedin_template.md` and `facebook_template.md`.

Output lands in `social-media/twitter/`, `social-media/instagram/`, `social-media/linkedin/` and `social-media/facebook/` as `event-name-DD-MM-YYYY-HHMM.md`. Every file ends with metadata: platform, date, character count. The skill closes with a summary of paths and flags any post over its limit. Skip the date format and the folder and file names come out different, so give it upfront.

```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/social-media-generator/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/social-media-generator/
### Codex
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ailabs-393/ai-labs-claude-skills --skill social-media-generator -a codex
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/social-media-generator/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
### Cursor
1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ailabs-393/ai-labs-claude-skills --skill social-media-generator -a cursor
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/social-media-generator/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/
### GitHub Copilot
gh skill install ailabs-393/ai-labs-claude-skills social-media-generator
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ailabs-393/ai-labs-claude-skills --skill social-media-generator -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/ailabs-393/ai-labs-claude-skills/tree/HEAD/dist/skills/social-media-generator/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn one announcement into posts for four networks
- fit a Twitter post into 280 characters without losing the point
- pick the right hashtag count per platform
- file drafts into dated folders instead of one dump
- check post length before publishing

## Example prompts
- Write launch posts for TaskFlow on March 15, 2025 at 14:00, audience is developers, put the site link at the end.
- Draft a webinar announcement for Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook in a friendly tone, choose the hashtags yourself.
- Generate content for the conference on 20-04-2025-1000 and save it under `social-media/` with metadata.
