## What it does

Slidev makes web presentations on Vite, Vue and Markdown. This skill hands the agent reference files for the deck format and its features: slide separators, headmatter for the whole deck and frontmatter per slide, presenter notes in HTML comments, line highlighting, the Monaco editor with runnable code, Mermaid and PlantUML diagrams, LaTeX math.

The skill points to separate topic files: click animations with `v-click`, built-in components and layouts, canvas size, export and hosting, global context. A project starts with `pnpm create slidev`, and the dev server opens at `http://localhost:3030`. Static build is `pnpm run build`, PDF export is `pnpm run export`.

PDF export needs `playwright-chromium`; without it the command fails. After `pnpm run dev` you check that slides load in the browser, and after export that the PDF sits in the project root.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add slidevjs/slidev --skill slidev -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/slidev/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/slidev/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add slidevjs/slidev --skill slidev -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/slidev/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add slidevjs/slidev --skill slidev -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/slidev/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install slidevjs/slidev slidev
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/slidev/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add slidevjs/slidev --skill slidev -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/slidevjs/slidev --path skills/slidev
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/slidev/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add slidevjs/slidev --skill slidev -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/slidevjs/slidev/tree/HEAD/skills/slidev/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Build a talk with live code examples
- Split a presentation into Markdown slides without layout work
- Reveal elements step by step on click
- Drop a Mermaid diagram or LaTeX formula into a slide
- Export the finished deck to PDF

## Example prompts
- Build a Slidev deck about our API with line-highlighted TypeScript examples
- Add a Mermaid diagram and presenter notes to the architecture slide
- Build the static version of the deck with `pnpm run build`

# Slidev - Presentation Slides for Developers

Web-based slides maker built on Vite, Vue, and Markdown.

## When to Use

- Technical presentations or slidedecks with live code examples
- Syntax-highlighted code snippets with animations
- Interactive demos (Monaco editor, runnable code)
- Mathematical equations (LaTeX) or diagrams (Mermaid, PlantUML)
- Record presentations with presenter notes
- Export to PDF, PPTX, or host as SPA
- Code walkthroughs for developer talks or workshops

## Quick Start

```bash
pnpm create slidev    # Create project
pnpm run dev          # Start dev server (opens http://localhost:3030)
pnpm run build        # Build static SPA
pnpm run export       # Export to PDF (requires playwright-chromium)
```

**Verify**: After `pnpm run dev`, confirm slides load at `http://localhost:3030`. After `pnpm run export`, check the output PDF exists in the project root.

## Basic Syntax

```md
---
theme: default
title: My Presentation
---
# First Slide
Content here
---
# Second Slide
More content
<!--
Presenter notes go here
-->
```

- `---` separates slides
- First frontmatter = headmatter (deck config)
- HTML comments = presenter notes
