## What it does

This is a starting point, not a working skill. The `SKILL.md` file opens with an extended metadata header: name, description, version, MIT license, category, tags, department. Then come model compatibility, a link to the `office-mcp` server with tools such as `extract_text_from_pdf` and `extract_text_from_docx`, input and output specs, capabilities and related skills.

The body is split into sections: an overview of what the skill can and cannot do, step-by-step usage, domain knowledge, output format, examples, tips and limitations. The header sets category `legal`, tags `contract`, `review`, `risk-analysis`, and department Legal. English and Chinese are the listed languages.

Copying the template as-is gets you nothing useful — the description stays a placeholder and the sections stay in square brackets. That is the cue to rewrite the header and fill domain knowledge with your own rules right away. Out of the box it analyses nothing; the actual document work comes from `office-mcp` tools, which you wire up separately.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill skill-name -a claude-code
```
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill _template -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/_template/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/_template/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill _template -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/_template/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill _template -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/_template/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills _template
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/_template/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill _template -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path _template
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/_template/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill _template -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/_template/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- lay out skill metadata across required and optional fields
- describe input files and text parameters before writing any logic
- wire the skill to the right MCP server tools
- set up a report structure with risks, findings and recommendations
- check related skills in the same category to avoid overlap

## Example prompts
- Take `_template/SKILL.md` and fill the header for a contract review skill
- Add rules for the `legal` category to the domain knowledge section
- Describe the `party_role` input and a markdown output format in the template
