## What it does

\`skill-judge` assesses how much useful knowledge a skill adds beyond what the model already knows, and flags material that repeats familiar concepts. It also considers whether the instructions shape the model’s reasoning and include relevant domain procedures. The output includes scores across multiple dimensions and actionable suggestions.

Its evaluation draws on official specifications and patterns derived from skill examples. The described criteria include knowledge delta and the balance between thinking frameworks and procedures. This reviews skill design; it is not a test of whether your project code runs. Install it in Claude Code with `npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill productivity/skill-judge`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill productivity/skill-judge
```

2. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill skill-judge -a claude-code
```

3. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/skill-judge/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/skill-judge/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/skill-judge/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/skill-judge/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install davila7/claude-code-templates skill-judge
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/skill-judge/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates --path cli-tool/components/skills/productivity/skill-judge
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/skill-judge/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/skills/productivity/skill-judge

## When to use it
- audit a `SKILL.md` before publishing it
- spot repeated explanations of basic concepts
- check whether a skill adds expert knowledge
- get concrete suggestions for improving a skill package

## Example prompts
- Audit `SKILL.md` for knowledge the model already has and suggest ways to improve it.
- Review this skill package against design practices and flag redundant explanations.
- Assess whether these instructions guide domain-specific reasoning and procedures.
