## What it does

This skill evaluates theme generation prompts and produces a structured JSON specification. When supplied with images such as logos or identity documents, the agent extracts tone, aesthetic clues, and layout expectations. The output schema groups properties into three sections: `siteBrief` covering site goals and audience, `layoutNotes` detailing required page blocks, and `typography` containing suggested typefaces alongside a ready Google Fonts URL.

Predefined inference patterns guide specific site categories, including SaaS platforms, online stores, professional services, restaurants, portfolios, and blogs. For instance, SaaS requests prompt modern sans-serif fonts like Satoshi alongside pricing grids, while culinary themes suggest editorial pairings like Playfair Display and Lato.

All schema keys remain optional, so the agent includes only details it can reasonably infer. If a user provides an ambiguous prompt, the model derives baseline sections and typography directly from the matching site type pattern.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cline/skills --skill site-specification -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/site-specification/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/site-specification/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cline/skills --skill site-specification -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/site-specification/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cline/skills --skill site-specification -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/site-specification/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install cline/skills site-specification
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/site-specification/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cline/skills --skill site-specification -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/cline/skills --path skills/site-specification
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/site-specification/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add cline/skills --skill site-specification -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/cline/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/site-specification/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- generate a complete website design brief from a short prompt
- infer brand values and visual style from an uploaded logo
- define section layout requirements for landing pages and blogs
- select matching Google Fonts pairs based on industry niche

## Example prompts
- Create a site specification JSON for a specialty coffee shop called Bean & Brew
- Draft layout notes and typography choices for a corporate law firm website
- Analyze this brand asset to generate a complete portfolio site brief

# Site Specification Skill

Extract detailed site specifications from user descriptions to guide theme generation. If the user has provided images, image urls or other documents, analyze them for additional clues about the brand and design preferences - obviously things like an exising logo image can be very informative about the brand's aesthetic, tone, and values, and any written documents can contain explicit statements about the brand identity or design preferences.

## Site Spec Schema

A complete site specification uses this JSON structure:

```json
{
  "siteBrief": {
    "siteName": "Name of the site/business",
    "siteType": "Type of site (e.g., e-commerce, portfolio, blog, SaaS, restaurant)",
    "primaryGoal": "Main purpose or conversion goal of the site",
    "audience": "Target audience description",
    "tone": "Voice and tone for the content",
    "brandKeywords": "Keywords describing the brand aesthetic and values"
  },
  "layoutNotes": [
    "Each layout requirement as a separate string",
    "Sections, features, and visual elements"
  ],
  "typography": {
    "primaryFont": "Main font for headings",
    "secondaryFont": "Font for body text",
    "usage": "How fonts should be applied",
    "fontImport": "Google Fonts import URL"
  }
}
```

All fields are optional - only include what can be reasonably inferred from the user's description.

## Inference Patterns by Site Type

### SaaS / Technology

**Infer:**
- Primary goal: Drive signups or demo requests
- Audience: Technical decision-makers, developers, or business users
- Tone: Professional, innovative, trustworthy
- Brand keywords: Modern, efficient, powerful, seamless

**Typical layout:**
- Hero with value proposition and CTA
- Feature grid or comparison
- Social proof (logos, testimonials)
- Pricing section
- FAQ
- Final CTA

**Typography tendency:**
- Clean geometric sans-serifs
- Strong hierarchy for scanning
- Consider: Satoshi, Plus Jakarta Sans, Outfit

### E-commerce / Retail

**Infer:**
- Primary goal: Drive purchases
- Audience: Consumers with specific interests
- Tone: Varies by brand (luxury vs. casual vs. value)
- Brand keywords: Depends on positioning

**Typical layout:**
- Hero with featured products or promotion
- Category navigation
- Featured products grid
- Trust signals (reviews, guarantees)
- Newsletter signup

**Typography tendency:**
- Match to brand positioning
- Luxury: refined serifs
- Modern: geometric sans
- Playful: display fonts
