## What it does

ShredStream delivers transaction data before the validator executes the block. You see transaction intent, not confirmed results. Solana validators serialize transactions into shreds of roughly 1,228 bytes each, propagated through Turbine in 2-3 hops. ShredStream skips Turbine and receives shreds directly from leader validators via Jito's Block Engine.

The skill covers three access paths: Jito ShredStream Proxy (self-hosted, requires a whitelisted keypair), Shyft RabbitStream (drop-in replacement for Yellowstone gRPC, transaction filters only), and Triton Deshred (via `SubscribeDeshred`). For Jito you generate a keypair with `solana-keygen new -o shred_auth.json`, apply, and wait for whitelisting. The proxy runs through `cargo run` or Docker with host networking for UDP.

The limitation is baked into the data itself: success status, balance changes, logs and compute units consumed are unavailable before execution. Some transactions you see will ultimately fail. That means your logic needs to handle false positives.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill shredstream -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/shredstream/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/shredstream/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill shredstream -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/shredstream/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill shredstream -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/shredstream/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills shredstream
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/shredstream/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill shredstream -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --path skills/shredstream
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/shredstream/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add agiprolabs/claude-trading-skills --skill shredstream -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- receive Solana transactions before block execution
- run Jito ShredStream Proxy on your own server
- connect to Shyft RabbitStream as a Yellowstone gRPC drop-in
- set up Triton Deshred via SubscribeDeshred
- filter transactions by program ID in real time

## Example prompts
- Set up ShredStream through Jito — generate a keypair and show me the proxy launch command
- Connect to RabbitStream and subscribe to pumpfun transactions
- Which pre-execution provider has the lowest latency?

# ShredStream — Pre-Execution Solana Data

ShredStream gives you transaction data **before the validator executes the block** — typically 100-500ms earlier than standard Yellowstone gRPC. You see transaction *intent*, not confirmed results.

This is the fastest path to Solana data for time-critical trading strategies.

## How It Works

Solana validators produce blocks by serializing transactions into **shreds** (~1,228 bytes each, sized for UDP MTU). Shreds propagate through Turbine (Solana's fanout protocol, 2-3 hops). ShredStream bypasses Turbine by receiving shreds **directly from leader validators** via Jito's Block Engine.

```
Leader Validator
     │
     ├── Turbine (standard, 2-3 hops, 200-500ms)
     │       └── Your RPC Node → Yellowstone gRPC (post-execution)
     │
     └── Jito Block Engine (direct)
              └── ShredStream Proxy (your server)
                   ├── UDP shreds → Your RPC/Validator (faster block building)
                   └── gRPC entries → Your Trading Bot (decoded transactions)
```

### What You Get vs. What You Don't

| Available (Pre-Execution) | NOT Available (Needs Execution) |
|---------------------------|--------------------------------|
| Transaction signatures | Success/failure status |
| Account keys (pubkeys) | Balance changes (pre/post) |
| Instructions (program, accounts, data) | Log messages |
| Address lookup table references | Inner instructions (CPI) |
| Slot number | Token balance changes |
| | Compute units consumed |

**Key tradeoff**: Speed for completeness. You see what's *about to happen* but can't confirm it actually succeeded. Some transactions you see will ultimately fail.

## Three Ways to Get Pre-Execution Data

| Provider | Product | Latency | Access | Cost |
|----------|---------|---------|--------|------|
| **Jito** | ShredStream Proxy | ~10-50ms from leader | Apply + auth keypair | Free (beta) |
| **Shyft** | RabbitStream | ~15-100ms faster than gRPC | Shyft gRPC plan | From $199/mo |
| **Triton** | Deshred (`SubscribeDeshred`) | ~6.3ms p50 from shred | Triton customer | ~$2,900+/mo |

See `references/providers_compared.md` for detailed comparison.

## Option 1: Jito ShredStream Proxy

The most direct approach — run Jito's open-source proxy on your own server.

### Get Access

1. Generate a Solana keypair: `solana-keygen new -o shred_auth.json`
2. Apply at [Jito's form](https://web.miniextensions.com/WV3gZjFwqNqITsMufIEp) with your public key
