## What it does

The skill handles the script, not the shoot. The agent returns spoken lines, on-screen text, beat-by-beat shot direction, five hook variants and a CTA. A human shoots, performs and edits. WoopSocial publishes the finished file.

Everything runs on the WATCH framework: win the first seconds, arc with open loops, write two tracks for sound-off and sound-on viewing, cash what the hook promised, and close the ending back onto frame one. It reads `brand-profile` and `voice-builder` first, takes the "what" from the content-angle skills and the hook line from `hook-writer`. Platform specifics go to `reels-script`, `tiktok-script` and `youtube-shorts`.

The skill states its own limits. It does not generate video, does not add native trending audio (the human adds that in-app), does not place interactive stickers and does not judge a take. The hook has to be honest, with no bait-and-switch and no invented stat. If you want a finished clip out of the box, look elsewhere: this gives you text and a shot plan, and the camera work is still yours.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill short-form-video-script -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/short-form-video-script/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/short-form-video-script/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill short-form-video-script -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/short-form-video-script/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill short-form-video-script -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/short-form-video-script/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install social-media-skills/skills short-form-video-script
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/short-form-video-script/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill short-form-video-script -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/social-media-skills/skills --path skills/short-form-video-script
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/short-form-video-script/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add social-media-skills/skills --skill short-form-video-script -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- write a Reels or Shorts script built for watch-through
- fix early drop-off in the first seconds
- produce five hook variants to test
- rewrite a script so it carries without sound
- engineer an ending that loops back to frame one

## Example prompts
- write a 30-second Reels script about our new report
- give me five hook variants for a TikTok about this case study
- rewrite this Shorts script so the on-screen text carries the story on mute

  Use when someone wants a short-form video script, a Reel/TikTok/Short script, help with hooks,

# short-form-video-script

The **master scripting craft** for short-form vertical video — win the first 3 seconds, arc with open loops, write
for sound-off *and* sound-on, cash the hook's promise, and hold the loop. The **platform skills** specialize it,
the **human** shoots it, **WoopSocial publishes** the finished file.

## The POV: the script's only job is to be un-skippable
In short-form the metric that decides everything is **watch-through, not likes** — so a script isn't "words to
say," it's a retention machine. Two truths most scripts ignore. First, **~80% watch on mute** — so write the
*silent* version first; if the on-screen text doesn't carry the story, the script fails before the audio matters.
Second, **the loop matters as much as the hook** — a seamless ending that flows back to frame 1 manufactures the
re-watches the algorithm reads as a hit. And the honesty edge that doubles as a growth tactic: an over-promising
hook with an under-delivering payoff creates a mid-video **retention cliff the algorithm punishes** — so a *true
promise, kept* is the cleanest path to reach. Cut every second that isn't earning the next.

## Read these first
1. **brand-profile** + **voice-builder** — the voice the script speaks in.
2. The **content-angle skill** (storytelling / educational / data-and-original-research / listicle / contrarian)
   for the 'what', and **hook-writer** for the hook line.

## The framework: WATCH
