## What it does

The skill covers modern Shiny UI patterns: `page_sidebar()` and `page_navbar()` instead of `fluidPage()`, `layout_columns()` instead of `fluidRow()` with `column()`, plus cards, value boxes, sidebars, accordions, tooltips, popovers and toasts. Separate sections handle theming, grid layouts, filling layouts and inputs such as `input_switch()` and `input_dark_mode()`.

Reference files back each topic: page layouts, grids, cards, value boxes, navigation, sidebars, filling, theming, components and inputs. One document maps legacy calls to their modern equivalents. For icons it points to `bsicons`; for plot theming, to `thematic::thematic_shiny()`.

The skill assumes you already know basic Shiny. Without that, following the jump from `tabsetPanel()` to `navset_card_underline()` gets rough. Author is Garrick Aden-Buie, MIT licensed.

## When to use it
- build a single-page dashboard with a sidebar and key metrics
- port an app from `fluidPage()` to `page_sidebar()`

# Modern Shiny Apps with bslib

Build professional Shiny dashboards using bslib's Bootstrap 5 components and layouts. This skill focuses on modern UI/UX patterns that replace legacy Shiny approaches.

### Page Layouts

- **`page_sidebar()`** -- Single-page dashboard with sidebar (most common)
- **`page_navbar()`** -- Multi-page app with top navigation bar
- **`page_fillable()`** -- Viewport-filling layout for custom arrangements
