# service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign

Gives one named user access to CMDB data in Service Cloud ITSM by assigning the license-backed permission sets. Use it when the org feature is on and the user still hits a 403.

## What it does

This skill opens CMDB in Service Cloud ITSM for a single person: it assigns the license-backed permission sets together with their permission-set licenses. Every call goes through Salesforce's `headless-360` MCP server, and the org comes from the OAuth session, so production and sandboxes behave the same way without any org id or alias. Four meta-tools do the work: `discover`, `describe`, `dispatch_readonly` for reads and `dispatch` for writes.

There are four permission sets to pick from. Reader (`ItSrvcCnfgItmReadPermissionSet`) covers configuration items, Owner lets someone edit them, Type Reader exposes types, Type Manager runs the type catalog. A viewer needs Reader plus Type Reader — that pair is also what the skill falls back to when no role is named. Anyone deploying content bundles needs Type Manager instead, because the other sets still leave bundle reads returning `403 FUNCTIONALITY_NOT_ENABLED`.

Think of it as the third layer of CMDB setup. User-level grants do nothing while the org-level feature stays off, so `service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-configure` has to run first. API version 67.0 is the floor, and the MCP session must point at the org you actually mean.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-itsm-agentic-setup-cmdb-access-assign -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- give one developer read access to CMDB configuration items
- clear a 403 FUNCTIONALITY_NOT_ENABLED on an org where CMDB is already on
- hand Type Manager to whoever deploys CMDB content bundles
- check which CMDB permission sets a user already holds
- grant CMDB access in a sandbox without touching org config

## Example prompts
- Give ivan.petrov@example.com read-only CMDB access.
- Assign Type Manager to ops@example.com in our sandbox.
- This user still gets 403 on `bundleListView`. Look at their CMDB permission sets and fix it.
