## What it does

This skill creates `MessagingChannel` XML metadata for Salesforce Messaging for In-App and Web. It can route chats through an `Omni-Channel Flow`, queue, user, or Agentforce Service Agent, then deploy and activate the channel.

When run on its own, the agent asks for the channel name, routing target, fallback queue, and pre-chat fields. It checks the API version with `scripts/check-api-version.sh`, normalizes the name with `scripts/normalize-channel-name.sh`, and verifies that the routing target exists in the org. It uses headless-360 MCP first and falls back to `sf` commands when that transport is unavailable.

The environment needs API version `67.0`, `sf` `>=2.0.0`, and `python3` `>=3.8`. Check these before starting, because they determine whether the workflow can run. The skill does not create the referenced flow, Embedded Service Deployment, permission sets, or Embedded Service code snippet.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-digital-engagement-channel-configure -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/service-digital-engagement-channel-configure/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/service-digital-engagement-channel-configure/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-digital-engagement-channel-configure -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/service-digital-engagement-channel-configure/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-digital-engagement-channel-configure -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/service-digital-engagement-channel-configure/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills service-digital-engagement-channel-configure
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/service-digital-engagement-channel-configure/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-digital-engagement-channel-configure -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/service-digital-engagement-channel-configure
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/service-digital-engagement-channel-configure/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-digital-engagement-channel-configure -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

## When to use it
- create `MessagingChannel` metadata for MIAW
- route chats to a queue or flow
- enable JWT-based user verification
- define pre-chat fields and consent settings
- activate a deployed messaging channel

## Example prompts
- Configure a MIAW messaging channel with `Omni-Channel Flow` routing.
- Create and activate a `MessagingChannel` with user verification and a pre-chat form.
- Prepare a `.messagingChannel-meta.xml` file for Agentforce Service Agent routing.

# Configuring Enhanced Chat Channel

Creates `MessagingChannel` metadata XML for Salesforce Messaging for In-App and Web (MIAW). This skill produces a fully configured enhanced chat channel with routing, user verification, pre-chat, and automated response settings ready for Metadata API deployment.

## Scope

- **In scope**: Creating `MessagingChannel` metadata with Omni-Channel Flow routing, Omni-Channel Queue routing, or Agentforce Service Agent (ASA) routing; enabling User Verification; configuring all channel settings (pre-chat forms, automated responses, consent keywords, file attachments, custom parameters)
- **Out of scope**: Creating the referenced Omni-Channel Flow/Queue definitions (use `automation-flow-generate`), creating the Embedded Service Deployment (separate metadata type — use `service-digital-engagement-deployment-configure`), creating permission sets for messaging (use `platform-permission-set-generate`), configuring the Embedded Service Code Snippet
