## What it does

This skill sends a `POST /services/data/v{V}/connect/livemessage/channels` request using the active `sf` CLI session. It inserts a `MessagingChannel` record marked as inactive. The server creates a child `MessagingChannelUsage` row at the same time. The call remains idempotent on the platform key.

Supported channels include `WhatsApp`, `Line`, `AppleBusinessChat`, `Facebook`, and `Text`. For SMS, the request body requires the `smsProvider` parameter, but an empty string is accepted. Types like `WeChat` or `Alexa` are unsupported.

You need `sf` 2.0.0+, `jq` 1.6.0+, and `curl` 7.0.0+. This helper serves as an internal step. For routing and full activation, invoke `service-de-headless-channel-configure` instead.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-de-channel-create -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/service-de-channel-create/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/service-de-channel-create/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-de-channel-create -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/service-de-channel-create/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-de-channel-create -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/service-de-channel-create/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills service-de-channel-create
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/service-de-channel-create/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-de-channel-create -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/service-de-channel-create
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/service-de-channel-create/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-de-channel-create -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/service-de-channel-create/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- Insert an inactive Salesforce Enhanced Messaging channel without Setup UI
- Create child MessagingChannelUsage records automatically during channel creation
- Register WhatsApp, LINE, Facebook, Apple, or SMS channels via Connect REST API
- Avoid duplicate channel records by checking the platform key before inserting

## Example prompts
- Set up a LINE messaging channel using our channel secret and token
- Create an inactive SMS messaging channel for our phone number in Salesforce
- Add an Apple Business Chat channel with the provided account identifier

## Reference File Index

| Reference file | Load when |
| --- | --- |
| `references/whatsapp.md` | `MESSAGE_TYPE=WhatsApp` — WABA partnership (Stage 2) + SF-side manage-WABA (Stage 3) prereqs, request body, WhatsApp gotchas. |
| `references/line.md` | `MESSAGE_TYPE=Line` — optional token verify, `authDetails` body shape, LINE gotchas. |
| `references/apple.md` | `MESSAGE_TYPE=AppleBusinessChat` — empty-config body, Apple-precondition errors, Apple gotchas. |
| `references/facebook.md` | `MESSAGE_TYPE=Facebook` — browser OAuth → page-selection flow, Facebook gotchas. |
| `references/sms.md` | `MESSAGE_TYPE=Text` — phone-number platform key, present-but-unvalidated `smsProvider`, number-provisioning prerequisite (caller's), SMS gotchas. |

| `references/worked-examples.md` | End-to-end traces per type (fresh insert, preflight short-circuit, OAuth). |

## What this skill does

Given a `{MESSAGE_TYPE}` and its inputs, creates a `MessagingChannel` record with
`PlatformType=Enhanced`, `IsActive=false`. The same server-side path
(`LiveMessageSetupServiceImpl.addChannel` → `LiveMessageChannelsUtil.findOrCreateCsotMessagingChannel`)
also inserts a `MessagingChannelUsage` row (`DeploymentType=Conversation`, `DeploymentStatus=New`
on fresh insert — `Disabled` on a channel that was previously activated then deactivated) — we get
it for free.
