## What it does

The skill adds routing between a channel and an active Agentforce agent. The agent receives work items from the channel, and a fallback queue catches overflow when the agent is unavailable. It works with any Agentforce agent, not just the Help Agent template.

There are three branches. For Enhanced Chat and Enhanced Messaging, it deploys `sessionHandlerType=AgentforceServiceAgent` and `sessionHandlerQueue` on an existing MessagingChannel, then binds `SessionHandlerId` through a Data API PATCH. For Voice, it creates an inbound RoutingFlow with `routingType: Copilot` and the queue as fallback. For Email-to-Case, it routes by case owner or an Omni-Channel RoutingFlow and deploys a `BotEmailDefinition`.

Before any write, the skill classifies the target org and refuses real production: `safe_to_write` is true only for a sandbox, a trial, or Developer/Base Edition. That guard matters, because a mistaken write here reroutes live customer traffic. You need `python3` 3.8 or newer, `sf` 2.0.0 or newer, and the `OrgPermissions.EinsteinAgentPlatform` access check. An active agent is not enough on its own: the platform only accepts a provisioned Agentforce Service Agent, typically an `ExternalCopilot`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Salesforce

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-agentforce-channel-configure -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/service-agentforce-channel-configure/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/service-agentforce-channel-configure/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-agentforce-channel-configure -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/service-agentforce-channel-configure/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-agentforce-channel-configure -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/service-agentforce-channel-configure/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install forcedotcom/sf-skills service-agentforce-channel-configure
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/service-agentforce-channel-configure/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-agentforce-channel-configure -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills --path skills/service-agentforce-channel-configure
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/service-agentforce-channel-configure/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add forcedotcom/sf-skills --skill service-agentforce-channel-configure -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- wire an existing channel to an active Agentforce agent
- resolve a fallback queue with the right `QueueSobject` SobjectType
- connect a Voice channel to the agent through an inbound RoutingFlow
- route Email-to-Case to the agent and bind `BotEmailDefinition` to the routing address
- add outbound escalation from the agent to a human

## Example prompts
- Wire our active Agentforce agent to the Enhanced Messaging channel and pick a fallback queue
- Set up inbound Voice routing to our agent with the queue as fallback
- Connect Email-to-Case to the agent and configure outbound escalation to a rep

description: "Wires an existing, active Agentforce agent to a channel by resolving a fallback queue, setting up inbound routing (either PATCH SessionHandlerId on the MessagingChannel, or an inbound RoutingFlow for Voice/Email), and optionally configuring outbound escalation. Use when the user wants to add a channel to an existing agent, connect an agent to a messaging or voice channel, route Voice or Email-to-Case to an Agentforce agent, or set up a fallback queue for an agent channel. Also applies to an existing Help Agent. The channel infrastructure must already exist — this skill adds routing. DO NOT TRIGGER when the agent does not yet exist or still needs Help Agent setup (use agentforce-generate or service-helpagent-coordinate), when setting up Email-to-Case with an agent end-to-end (use service-email-to-case-configure), when creating the MessagingChannel itself (use service-digital-engagement-channel-configure), or when creating an Embedded Service Deployment (use service-digital-engagement-deployment-configure)."
