## What it does

The skill takes a ready source — a HuggingFace repo, a ComfyUI workflow, a Hub release, a container image, a GGUF repo, a Civitai asset or a community template — and carries it to a queue-backed Serverless endpoint. The steps stay the same: read the source, choose the engine and hardware, provision, warm, run one real job, hand back the URL with a `curl`, and state what is billing.

The engine follows from the modality and the weight format, not from a default. `*.safetensors` and `*.bin` go to vLLM or SGLang, `*.gguf` goes to llama.cpp or Ollama, since vLLM will not load that file. Diffusion work goes to ComfyUI, transcription to a Whisper-family worker, embeddings to a dedicated embeddings worker. GPU size comes from the model's real metadata rather than a guess. Creating an endpoint is billable: the skill states the hourly cost of the GPU class before creating it, and the smoke job costs money too.

Under the hood it works through Runpod MCP tools: reading the GPU catalog with prices and live stock, creating a template and an endpoint, staging large weights on a network volume, checking worker health and logs, submitting a job and waiting for it, then deleting everything it created. Code-first Python deploys with the runpod-flash dev loop are out of scope here.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill serverless-deploy -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/serverless-deploy/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/serverless-deploy/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill serverless-deploy -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/serverless-deploy/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill serverless-deploy -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/serverless-deploy/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install runpod/runpod-plugins-official serverless-deploy
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/serverless-deploy/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill serverless-deploy -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/runpod/runpod-plugins-official --path plugins/runpod/skills/serverless-deploy
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/serverless-deploy/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add runpod/runpod-plugins-official --skill serverless-deploy -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/runpod/runpod-plugins-official/tree/HEAD/plugins/runpod/skills/serverless-deploy/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- deploy an LLM from HuggingFace to a Serverless endpoint
- size the GPU from the model's real metadata
- prove a deploy with one real job
- pick the engine that matches the weight format
- tear down the endpoint, template and network volume after a test

## Example prompts
- deploy this model to Runpod Serverless and give me the URL
- turn my ComfyUI workflow into an endpoint and run one job
- delete the endpoint and template you created

# Serverless deploy

You take *any* deployable source and turn it into a working, queue-backed Serverless endpoint that you have proven with one real job, and you leave the user knowing exactly what now exists and what it bills. The steps never change: read the source, decide the engine and the hardware, provision, warm, smoke-test one real job, hand back the URL and a `curl`, state what is billing. Tear down only when the user framed the deploy as a throwaway test or asks for cleanup.
