## What it does

The skill runs a stock through Mark Minervini's Specific Entry Point Analysis. Stage comes first: buys only belong in Stage 2, and anything else stops the review right there. Then the eight mandatory trend-template conditions — price above the 50-, 150- and 200-day averages, the averages stacked in order, the 200-day rising. After that come fundamentals, the base pattern, and position size from a risk percentage.

\`SKILL.md` holds the step-by-step workflow, and `references` holds `stage-analysis.md`, `trend-template.md`, `fundamentals.md` and `patterns.md`. It does not pull quotes itself. You point it at yfinance or another market data tool for price, the 52-week range, volume, earnings and institutional ownership; moving averages, the 200-day slope and relative performance are computed in code from two years of history.

One thing to know before installing: a missing relative-strength rating gets flagged as a serious gap rather than guessed at. The method assumes a win rate near 50-55%, so the edge comes from small losses against larger gains. The skill states that it is educational analysis, not investment advice.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add himself65/finance-skills --skill sepa-strategy -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/sepa-strategy/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/sepa-strategy/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add himself65/finance-skills --skill sepa-strategy -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/sepa-strategy/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add himself65/finance-skills --skill sepa-strategy -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/sepa-strategy/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install himself65/finance-skills sepa-strategy
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/sepa-strategy/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add himself65/finance-skills --skill sepa-strategy -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/himself65/finance-skills --path plugins/market-analysis/skills/sepa-strategy
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/sepa-strategy/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add himself65/finance-skills --skill sepa-strategy -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- rule out stocks that are not in Stage 2 before sizing an entry
- check all 8 trend-template conditions against real moving-average values
- locate a VCP and its pivot on a chart
- size a position from a fixed risk percentage
- tell EPS growth driven by revenue from cost-cutting

## Example prompts
- Run this ticker through SEPA: which stage is it in, and does it pass all 8 trend-template conditions?
- Should I buy this one Minervini-style? Read the chart, find the base and the entry point, then size the position from my risk percentage
- Is this a VCP or a flat base? Compare the depth of each pullback and the volume

# SEPA Strategy Analysis

Analyze stocks using Mark Minervini's SEPA (Specific Entry Point Analysis) framework — a complete system for identifying high-probability growth stock entries with strict risk management.

**Core philosophy:** Buy the right stock, in the right stage, at a precise entry point, with strict risk controls. Win rate is ~50-55% — profitability comes from asymmetric risk/reward (small losses, large gains), not from predicting direction.

> This skill is for educational/analytical purposes only. It does not constitute investment advice. Never execute trades based solely on this analysis.

## Step 1: Gather Stock Data

Collect the following data for the stock. Use yfinance or any available market data tool.

| Data needed | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Current price | Trend template check |
| 50-day, 150-day, 200-day moving averages | MA alignment verification |
| 52-week high and low | Price position check |
| 200MA value from 1 month ago and 4-5 months ago | MA200 slope direction |
| 20-day average volume + today's volume | Volume ratio analysis |
| Recent quarterly EPS (last 3-4 quarters) | EPS growth & acceleration |
| Annual EPS (last 3 years) | Long-term growth trend |
| Recent quarterly revenue (last 3-4 quarters) | Revenue growth check |
| Gross margin and net margin trend | Margin health |
| Institutional ownership changes (if available) | Smart money signal |
| RS rating or 12-month relative performance vs S&P 500 | Relative strength |
