## What it does

This skill automates the creation of `sentry-<platform>-sdk` bundles for AI agents. It starts by mapping the SDK feature matrix across errors, tracing, profiling, metrics, and session replay. Then it spins off parallel research tasks via the `claude` tool to pull verified API details from official docs and GitHub repositories.

Large research outputs go directly into `research/<sdk>-*.md` files because each topic spans 500 to 1200 lines. The workflow checks file sizes automatically and re-runs any research task that yields fewer than 100 lines. When the framework supports `npx @sentry/wizard@latest`, the skill prioritizes the wizard flow. The wizard is crucial for frontend targets because it configures interactive authentication and source map uploads.

The final output is a four-phase `SKILL.md` file backed by specialized guides in `references/`. Note that this internal skill sets `disable-model-invocation: true`, so agents will not trigger it without an explicit user prompt.

## Requirements
- Works with: Sentry

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-sdk-skill-creator -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/sentry-sdk-skill-creator/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/sentry-sdk-skill-creator/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-sdk-skill-creator -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/sentry-sdk-skill-creator/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-sdk-skill-creator -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/sentry-sdk-skill-creator/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install getsentry/sentry-for-ai sentry-sdk-skill-creator
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/sentry-sdk-skill-creator/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-sdk-skill-creator -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/getsentry/sentry-for-ai --path skills-legacy/sentry-sdk-skill-creator
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/sentry-sdk-skill-creator/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-sdk-skill-creator -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/getsentry/sentry-for-ai/tree/HEAD/skills-legacy/sentry-sdk-skill-creator/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- create a complete Sentry SDK skill bundle for a target platform
- map supported Sentry pillars from error monitoring to profiling and crons
- verify SDK API signatures against official documentation and GitHub
- generate a structured SKILL.md with a four-phase setup wizard

## Example prompts
- Create a Sentry SDK skill for SvelteKit with reference files
- Add support for Go to sentry-agent-skills
- Build a new sentry-ruby-sdk skill bundle with wizard flow

# Create a Sentry SDK Skill Bundle

Produce a complete, research-backed SDK skill bundle — a main wizard SKILL.md plus deep-dive reference files for every feature pillar the SDK supports.

## Invoke This Skill When

- Asked to "create a Sentry SDK skill" for a new platform
- Asked to "add support for [language/framework]" to sentry-agent-skills
- Building a new `sentry-<platform>-sdk` skill bundle
- Porting the SDK skill pattern to a new Sentry SDK

> Read `${SKILL_ROOT}/references/philosophy.md` first — it defines the bundle architecture, wizard flow, and design principles this skill implements.

---

## Phase 1: Identify the SDK

Determine what you're building a skill for:

```bash
# What SDK? What's the package name?
# Examples: sentry-go, @sentry/sveltekit, sentry-python, sentry-ruby, sentry-cocoa
```

Establish the **feature matrix** — which Sentry pillars does this SDK support?

| Pillar | Check docs | Notes |
|--------|-----------|-------|
| Error Monitoring | Always available | Non-negotiable baseline |
| Tracing/Performance | Usually available | Check for span API |
| Profiling | Varies | May be removed or experimental |
| Logging | Newer feature | Check minimum version |
| Metrics | Newer feature | Check minimum version |
| Crons | Backend only | Not available for frontend SDKs |
| Session Replay | Frontend only | Not available for backend SDKs |
| AI Monitoring | Some SDKs | Usually JS + Python only |

**Reference existing SDK skills** to understand the target quality level:

```bash
ls skills/sentry-*-sdk/ 2>/dev/null
# Read 1-2 existing SDK skills for pattern reference
```

---

## Phase 2: Research

**This is the most critical phase.** Skill quality depends entirely on accurate, current API knowledge. Do NOT write skills from memory — research every feature against official docs.

### Research Strategy

Spin off **parallel research tasks** (using the `claude` tool with `outputFile`) — one per feature area. Each task should:
1. Visit the official Sentry docs pages for that feature

The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 7be982cd9db452e8 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
