## What it does

The skill inspects the project first. It greps `Package.swift`, `Podfile`, `Cartfile` and `project.pbxproj` for existing `sentry-cocoa` traces, then works out whether the app is SwiftUI or UIKit, which Apple platforms it targets and what logging library is already in use. Instead of asking open-ended questions it leads with a proposal: error monitoring and tracing as the baseline, profiling for production iOS and macOS apps. Session Replay, logging, metrics and user feedback come as optional add-ons.

Installation runs two ways. The first is Sentry Wizard: `brew install getsentry/tools/sentry-wizard && sentry-wizard -i ios`. You run that yourself in a terminal, because the wizard opens a browser for login and waits on interactive input. The second path is manual, through Swift Package Manager or CocoaPods. Pick exactly one SPM product per target — Xcode lets you tick several, and that breaks the build. For watchOS, app extensions and CLI tools you need `Sentry-WithoutUIKitOrAppKit`.

The APIs in the skill match sentry-cocoa 9.15.0, and the text tells you to check Sentry docs before implementing. Metrics are Swift-only and start at SDK 9.12. Profiling is not supported on tvOS, watchOS or visionOS, and Crons and AI Monitoring do not exist for Cocoa at all.

## Requirements
- Works with: Sentry

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-cocoa-sdk -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/sentry-cocoa-sdk/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/sentry-cocoa-sdk/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-cocoa-sdk -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/sentry-cocoa-sdk/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-cocoa-sdk -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/sentry-cocoa-sdk/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install getsentry/sentry-for-ai sentry-cocoa-sdk
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/sentry-cocoa-sdk/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-cocoa-sdk -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/getsentry/sentry-for-ai --path skills-legacy/sentry-cocoa-sdk
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/sentry-cocoa-sdk/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add getsentry/sentry-for-ai --skill sentry-cocoa-sdk -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/getsentry/sentry-for-ai/tree/HEAD/skills-legacy/sentry-cocoa-sdk/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- add Sentry to an existing iOS project without reading the docs end to end
- detect whether the app is SwiftUI or UIKit and pick the right init pattern
- wire up sentry-cocoa through Swift Package Manager or CocoaPods
- turn on tracing and profiling for a production iOS or macOS app
- set up dSYM and debug symbol upload as a build phase

## Example prompts
- Add Sentry to my SwiftUI iOS project
- Set up sentry-cocoa with error monitoring, tracing and profiling
- Check whether Sentry is already in this project and suggest which features to enable

# Sentry Cocoa SDK

Opinionated wizard that scans your Apple project and guides you through complete Sentry setup.

## Invoke This Skill When

- User asks to "add Sentry to iOS/macOS/tvOS" or "set up Sentry" in an Apple app
- User wants error monitoring, tracing, profiling, session replay, or logging in Swift/ObjC, or metrics in Swift
- User mentions `sentry-cocoa`, `SentrySDK`, or the Apple/iOS Sentry SDK
- User wants to monitor crashes, app hangs, watchdog terminations, or performance

> **Note:** SDK versions and APIs below reflect Sentry docs at time of writing (sentry-cocoa 9.15.0).
> Always verify against [docs.sentry.io/platforms/apple/](https://docs.sentry.io/platforms/apple/) before implementing.

## Phase 1: Detect

Run these commands to understand the project before making any recommendations:

```bash
# Check existing Sentry dependency
grep -rEi "sentry|sentry-cocoa|SentrySPM|SentrySwiftUI" \
  --include="Package.swift" --include="Podfile" --include="Cartfile" \
  --include="Package.resolved" --include="project.pbxproj" . 2>/dev/null | head -20
# Detect UI framework (SwiftUI vs UIKit)
grep -rE "@main|struct .*: App" --include="*.swift" . 2>/dev/null | head -5
grep -rE "AppDelegate|UIApplicationMain|@UIApplicationDelegateAdaptor" --include="*.swift" . 2>/dev/null | head -5
# Detect platform and deployment targets
grep -rE "platforms:|\\.iOS|\\.macOS|\\.tvOS|\\.watchOS|\\.visionOS|IPHONEOS_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET|MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET|TVOS_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET|WATCHOS_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET|XROS_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET" \
  --include="Package.swift" --include="project.pbxproj" . 2>/dev/null | head -20
grep -E "platform :ios|platform :osx|platform :tvos|platform :watchos" Podfile 2>/dev/null
# Detect logging
