## What it does

The skill builds a falsifiable hypothesis, a variant matrix isolating one variable per cell, and a prospective sample size plan with MDE and power. It handles four experiment modes: `a-b`, `multivariate`, `send-time`, and hold-out tests. Calculations run locally through the bundled `experiment.py` script. Keyed ESP API access is never required.

Statistical output alone never triggers a business decision. Without a precommitted, owner-approved action rule, the skill marks the evaluation as `decision: UNDECIDED`. It also avoids writing creative copy or auditing deliverability vetoes, leaving those duties to separate workflow skills.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill send-experiment-designer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/send-experiment-designer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/send-experiment-designer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill send-experiment-designer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/send-experiment-designer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill send-experiment-designer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/send-experiment-designer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills send-experiment-designer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/send-experiment-designer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill send-experiment-designer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --path email/deliver/send-experiment-designer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/send-experiment-designer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aaron-he-zhu/aaron-marketing-skills --skill send-experiment-designer -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- calculate sample size, MDE, and test duration before sending email experiments
- isolate variables across multi-factor subject and CTA test matrices
- design send-time tests keeping creative and segment constant
- evaluate significance, intervals, and practical materiality from ESP exports

## Example prompts
- Design an A/B subject-line test. Baseline open rate is 38%, I want to detect a 3-point lift. Goal is retention, list is 12,000.
- Send-time test: what's the best hour to deploy my weekly newsletter? Baseline open 40%, list 20,000.
- Here is my finished test export with opens and clicks. Evaluate statistical significance and intervals.

# Send Experiment Designer

Designs email experiments across four modes and reads them out: a falsifiable hypothesis, a variant matrix that isolates **one** variable per cell, a sample-size / minimum-detectable-effect / run-duration / power plan, and a documented effect/uncertainty read. It may apply an owner-approved precommitted action rule, but statistical output alone never chooses a business action.

**Mode set (pick one):**

| Mode | Isolated variable | Primary metric |
|------|-------------------|----------------|
| `a-b` | one change — subject *or* preheader *or* CTA *or* creative | open (subject) / click / CTOR (CTA/creative) |
| `multivariate` | 2+ factors crossed (e.g. subject × CTA), one variable per cell | the goal metric, powered per cell |
```
