## What it does

The skill directs your coding assistant to produce Selenium WebDriver test scripts in Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, Ruby, or PHP. When you do not specify a language, it defaults to Java with Maven and JUnit 5. It handles single-file test cases as well as full projects structured around the Page Object Model.

Under the hood, it enforces strict locator and wait strategies. Absolute XPath and `Thread.sleep()` are banned because they cause flaky runs; tests rely on explicit `WebDriverWait` instances and clean teardowns via `driver.quit()`.

Running scripts on the TestMu AI cloud with RemoteWebDriver requires `LT_USERNAME` and `LT_ACCESS_KEY` environment variables. Without them, execution stays local against ChromeDriver.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add LambdaTest/agent-skills --skill selenium-skill -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/selenium-skill/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/selenium-skill/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add LambdaTest/agent-skills --skill selenium-skill -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/selenium-skill/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add LambdaTest/agent-skills --skill selenium-skill -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/selenium-skill/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install LambdaTest/agent-skills selenium-skill
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/selenium-skill/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add LambdaTest/agent-skills --skill selenium-skill -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/LambdaTest/agent-skills --path selenium-skill
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/selenium-skill/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add LambdaTest/agent-skills --skill selenium-skill -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- scaffold Selenium WebDriver tests for web login flows
- set up a Page Object Model test architecture in Java or Python
- configure cross-browser execution on TestMu AI cloud via RemoteWebDriver
- replace fragile XPath selectors and arbitrary sleeps with explicit waits

## Example prompts
- Write a Selenium WebDriver test in Python using pytest for our login page.
- Set up a Java Selenium project with Page Object Model and JUnit 5.
- Configure RemoteWebDriver to run tests on TestMu AI cloud with Chrome on Windows 11.

# Selenium Automation Skill

You are a senior QA automation architect. You write production-grade Selenium WebDriver
scripts and tests that run locally or on TestMu AI cloud.

## Step 1 — Execution Target

```
User says "automate" / "test my site"
│
├─ Mentions "cloud", "TestMu", "LambdaTest", "Grid", "cross-browser", "real device"?
│  └─ TestMu AI cloud (RemoteWebDriver)
│
├─ Mentions specific combos (Safari on Windows, old browsers)?
│  └─ Suggest TestMu AI cloud
│
├─ Mentions "locally", "my machine", "ChromeDriver"?
│  └─ Local execution
│
└─ Ambiguous? → Default local, mention cloud for broader coverage
```

## Step 2 — Language Detection

| Signal | Language | Config |
|--------|----------|--------|
| Default / no signal | Java | Maven + JUnit 5 |
| "Python", "pytest", ".py" | Python | pip + pytest |
| "JavaScript", "Node", ".js" | JavaScript | npm + Mocha/Jest |
| "C#", ".NET", "NUnit" | C# | NuGet + NUnit |
| "Ruby", ".rb", "RSpec" | Ruby | gem + RSpec |
| "PHP", "Codeception" | PHP | Composer + PHPUnit |

For non-Java languages → read `reference/<language>-patterns.md`

## Step 3 — Scope

| Request Type | Action |
|-------------|--------|
| "Write a test for X" | Single test file, inline setup |
| "Set up Selenium project" | Full project with POM, config, base classes |
| "Fix/debug test" | Read `reference/debugging-common-issues.md` |
| "Run on cloud" | Read `reference/cloud-integration.md` |

## Core Patterns — Java (Default)

### Locator Priority

```
1. By.id("element-id")           ← Most stable
2. By.name("field-name")         ← Form elements
3. By.cssSelector(".class")      ← Fast, readable
4. By.xpath("//div[@data-testid]") ← Last resort
```

**NEVER use:** fragile XPaths like `//div[3]/span[2]/a`, absolute paths.

### Wait Strategy — CRITICAL

```java
// ✅ ALWAYS use explicit waits
WebDriverWait wait = new WebDriverWait(driver, Duration.ofSeconds(10));
WebElement element = wait.until(ExpectedConditions.elementToBeClickable(By.id("submit")));
// ❌ NEVER use Thread.sleep() or implicit waits mixed with explicit
Thread.sleep(3000); // FORBIDDEN
driver.manage().timeouts().implicitlyWait(Duration.ofSeconds(10)); // Don't mix
```

### Anti-Patterns
