## What it does

The skill covers what ordinary tests skip. A login test checks the happy path while an expired JWT still grants admin, an IDOR lets one user read another's orders, and a webhook field reaches `169.254.169.254`. This skill forces those paths into CI on every PR.

Inside is an OWASP Top 10 (2025) checklist with runnable tests: DAST via OWASP ZAP, SAST via Semgrep, dependency and supply-chain scanning (OSV-Scanner, SBOM, provenance), auth and session tests (JWT, OAuth, RBAC), and Playwright patterns for XSS, CSRF, SQLi, SSRF. The layers stack because every tool has a blind spot.

Before writing tests it asks about your threat model, auth mechanism, compliance requirements, existing scanners, API surface and deployment model. If `.agents/qa-project-context.md` exists, some questions are skipped. This is not manual penetration testing, and it does not map controls to SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI or GDPR — that is `compliance-testing`. Pipeline stage wiring and deploy gating belong to `ci-cd-integration`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Playwright

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill security-testing -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/security-testing/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/security-testing/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill security-testing -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/security-testing/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill security-testing -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/security-testing/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install petrkindlmann/qa-skills security-testing
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/security-testing/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill security-testing -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/petrkindlmann/qa-skills --path skills/security-testing
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/security-testing/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add petrkindlmann/qa-skills --skill security-testing -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- catch broken access control before production
- verify an expired token is rejected
- find vulnerable dependencies at the PR stage
- generate an SBOM and check build provenance
- write negative tests for XSS and SSRF

## Example prompts
- run an OWASP Top 10 2025 security review of my project and write the tests
- add dependency scanning and Semgrep SAST to CI
- write Playwright tests for SSRF and broken access control

  Test application security against OWASP Top 10 (2025) with automated CI tooling: OWASP ZAP
  (DAST), dependency/supply-chain scanning (OSV-Scanner, SBOM, provenance), Semgrep SAST,
  auth/session tests (JWT, OAuth, RBAC), and XSS/CSRF/SQLi/SSRF Playwright patterns.
  Use when: "security test," "OWASP," "vulnerability," "ZAP," "XSS," "SSRF," "dependency scan,"
  "auth testing," "OWASP LLM Top 10." Scope is automated scanning + negative-path security tests in CI, not manual penetration testing.
  Not for: mapping security controls to regulations (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI, GDPR) — use compliance-testing;
  pipeline stage wiring and deploy gating mechanics — use ci-cd-integration; purely functional API auth/input
  tests with no attacker model — see api-testing; testing your product's own LLM features or defending the
  agent itself (prompt-injection detector, indirect injection, jailbreak red-teaming) — use ai-system-testing.

<objective>
A login test that only checks the happy path passes while an expired JWT still grants admin, an
IDOR lets user A read user B's orders, and a webhook field reaches `169.254.169.254`. This skill
forces the negative-path checks — broken access control, injection, SSRF, auth bypass, supply-chain
drift — into CI on every PR, layered across DAST, SCA, SAST, and custom Playwright tests so no single
tool's blind spot ships. It produces runnable tests mapped to the OWASP Top 10 (2025) plus the CI
gates that fail the build when a category regresses.
</objective>

## Discovery Questions

Check `.agents/qa-project-context.md` first — if it exists, use it and skip anything already answered there (auth mechanism, compliance requirements, infrastructure). Then:

1. **Threat model:** Has the team identified key assets, threat actors, and attack surfaces? If not, do a lightweight threat model before writing tests — it tells you which categories matter most.
2. **Auth mechanism:** Session cookies, JWT, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, API keys, or MFA? Each has distinct negative-path tests (alg confusion, session fixation, state tampering).
3. **Compliance requirements:** SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR? These mandate specific controls — map them with `compliance-testing`; this skill only proves the controls behave.
4. **Existing security tooling:** Already running OSV-Scanner, Snyk, Dependabot, Semgrep, or ZAP? Check CI config for existing security stages before adding duplicates.
