## What it does

The skill runs a systematic review of security controls, policies and procedures. It ships a Python data model with `ComplianceFramework`, `ControlStatus` and `Control` classes, where each control carries `control_id`, `framework` and `category`. Full implementations live in `references/automated-compliance-checker.md` and `references/nodejs-compliance-automation.md`.

Six scenarios are covered: annual audits, pre-certification assessments, regulatory validation, security posture review, third-party audits and gap analysis. Each control gets a status — compliant, non_compliant, partially_compliant or not_applicable — so you can see where remediation is still owed.

Install runs through `npx skills add` with a platform flag. GitHub Copilot uses a different command: `gh skill install`. The skill file lands in `.cursor/skills/`, `.github/skills/` or `~/.claude/skills/` depending on the tool. The reference guides assume a Python environment, since the sample code relies on `dataclasses` and `enum`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill security-compliance-audit -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/security-compliance-audit/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/security-compliance-audit/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill security-compliance-audit -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/security-compliance-audit/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill security-compliance-audit -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/security-compliance-audit/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts security-compliance-audit
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/security-compliance-audit/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill security-compliance-audit -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --path skills/security-compliance-audit
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/security-compliance-audit/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill security-compliance-audit -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- check security controls before a SOC 2 certification
- collect evidence for each GDPR requirement
- find gaps in ISO 27001 coverage
- track remediation status after an audit
- prepare a HIPAA or PCI-DSS compliance report

## Example prompts
- run a SOC 2 control audit and list what fails
- build a GDPR requirements checklist for our service
- show what we have not covered under ISO 27001 and suggest a fix plan

## Overview

Systematic evaluation of security controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

## When to Use

- Annual compliance audits
- Pre-certification assessments
- Regulatory compliance validation
- Security posture evaluation
- Third-party audits
- Gap analysis

## Quick Start

Minimal working example:

```python
# compliance_auditor.py
from dataclasses import dataclass, field
from typing import List, Dict
from enum import Enum
import json
from datetime import datetime
class ComplianceFramework(Enum):
    SOC2 = "SOC 2"
    GDPR = "GDPR"
    HIPAA = "HIPAA"
    PCI_DSS = "PCI-DSS"
    ISO_27001 = "ISO 27001"
class ControlStatus(Enum):
    COMPLIANT = "compliant"
    NON_COMPLIANT = "non_compliant"
    PARTIALLY_COMPLIANT = "partially_compliant"
    NOT_APPLICABLE = "not_applicable"
@dataclass
class Control:
    control_id: str
    framework: ComplianceFramework
    category: str
// ... (see reference guides for full implementation)
```

## Reference Guides

## Best Practices

### ✅ DO

- Automate compliance checks
- Document all controls
- Maintain evidence repository
- Conduct regular audits
- Track remediation progress
- Involve stakeholders
- Keep policies updated

### ❌ DON'T

- Skip documentation
- Ignore findings
- Delay remediation
- Cherry-pick controls
- Forget evidence collection
