## What it does

Ultracite is a linter and formatter for JavaScript and TypeScript with a choice of providers. Biome on Rust is the default, but you can run ESLint with Prettier and Stylelint, or Oxlint with Oxfmt. The skill comes in when you install Ultracite, move a config from v6 to v7, or hit errors in `biome.jsonc`.

Two slash commands and two subagents sit inside. `/ultracite:doctor` validates project setup, looks for old preset paths after the v7 move and flags rule conflicts. `/ultracite:migrate` walks through migrating from ESLint and Prettier. The `config-validator` subagent reads `biome.jsonc` for syntax and conflicts, while `migration-assistant` maps old rules to new ones. Presets cover React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, Solid, Angular, Remix, Qwik and Astro.

Node.js v20 or newer is required. The author suggests bun as the package manager, though npm, pnpm and yarn work too. Pick ESLint and you need version 8.0.0 or higher; Oxlint needs 0.1.0 or higher. In monorepos or projects with a large custom ESLint config, expect manual work during migration: Biome does not replicate every plugin, and its Angular support is basic. Run `/ultracite:doctor` first instead of switching providers blind.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill ultracite -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ultracite/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ultracite/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill ultracite -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ultracite/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill ultracite -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ultracite/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install secondsky/claude-skills ultracite
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ultracite/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill ultracite -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills --path plugins/ultracite/skills/ultracite
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ultracite/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill ultracite -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/ultracite/skills/ultracite/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- set up linting and formatting in a new project without hand-writing config
- move from ESLint and Prettier to Biome without losing rules
- update presets after upgrading from v6 to v7
- track down rule conflicts in `biome.jsonc`
- wire linting into a Turborepo monorepo

## Example prompts
- /ultracite:doctor check my project setup
- /ultracite:migrate move my config from ESLint to Ultracite
- switch this project to the Oxlint provider

# Ultracite Skill

**Fast, zero-config linting and formatting for modern JavaScript/TypeScript projects**

## Overview

Ultracite is a unified linting and formatting solution that supports multiple providers: **Biome** (default, Rust-based), **ESLint+Prettier+Stylelint**, and **Oxlint+Oxfmt**. It provides framework-specific presets and zero-configuration defaults, replacing traditional ESLint+Prettier setups with a faster, simpler alternative. Ultracite operates invisibly in the background, automatically formatting code and applying fixes on every save.
