## What it does

The skill walks an agent through the eight official Nuxt SEO v5 modules — `@nuxtjs/robots`, `@nuxtjs/sitemap`, `nuxt-og-image`, `nuxt-schema-org`, `nuxt-link-checker`, `nuxt-seo-utils`, `nuxt-site-config` and the `@nuxtjs/seo` bundle. It ships a five-minute quick start, a version table, a list of critical rules and fixes for 14 common failures: a 404 on the sitemap, an OG image that will not render, duplicate meta tags.

A migration section covers v4 to v5. `site.name` is no longer inferred from `package.json`, so set it yourself or the site title and `og:site_name` go missing. On the server, `useSiteConfig(event)` became `getSiteConfig(event)`, and `asSitemapCollection()` became `defineSitemapSchema()`. Old code calling those will break, so check your server utilities and Content collections before upgrading.

Nuxt >=4.0.0 is required. Sitemaps and canonical URLs need `site.url` pointing at the production address, and i18n setups need `defaultLocale`. Verify the result at `/robots.txt`, `/sitemap.xml` and debug endpoints such as `/__robots__/debug-production.json`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-seo -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/nuxt-seo/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/nuxt-seo/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-seo -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/nuxt-seo/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-seo -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/nuxt-seo/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install secondsky/claude-skills nuxt-seo
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/nuxt-seo/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-seo -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/secondsky/claude-skills --path plugins/nuxt-seo/skills/nuxt-seo
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/nuxt-seo/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add secondsky/claude-skills --skill nuxt-seo -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- generate robots.txt and keep admin pages out of the index
- build an XML sitemap and split it with `chunkSize`
- render an Open Graph image from a Vue template
- add Schema.org structured data to key pages
- catch broken internal links before release

## Example prompts
- Set up SEO in my Nuxt app: add `@nuxtjs/seo` and configure `site.url` and `site.name`
- Why does `/sitemap.xml` return 404? Check the sitemap config in Nuxt
- Add Schema.org markup and an OG image to the product page

# Nuxt SEO v5

**Status**: Production Ready | **Dependencies**: Nuxt >=4.0.0

Use this skill when building SEO-optimized Nuxt applications with any combination of the 8 official Nuxt SEO modules plus standalone modules.

---

## Quick Start (5 Minutes)

### 1. Install Complete SEO Bundle

```bash
# Recommended (v5)
npx nuxt module add @nuxtjs/seo
```

### 2. Configure Site Settings

```typescript
export default defineNuxtConfig({
  modules: ['@nuxtjs/seo'],
  site: {
    url: 'https://example.com',
    name: 'My Awesome Site',
    description: 'Building amazing web experiences',
    defaultLocale: 'en'
  }
})
```

**CRITICAL (v5 Breaking Change):**
- `site.name` is NO LONGER auto-inferred from `package.json` — set it explicitly
- Set `site.url` to production URL (required for sitemaps and canonical URLs)
- Set `defaultLocale` if using i18n

### 3. Restart and Verify

Visit these URLs to verify:
- `/robots.txt` - Robots file
- `/sitemap.xml` - Sitemap
- `/__robots__/debug-production.json` - Debug (v5)
- `/__sitemap__/debug-production.json` - Debug (v5)

### Individual Module Install

```bash
npx nuxt module add @nuxtjs/robots
npx nuxt module add @nuxtjs/sitemap
npx nuxt module add nuxt-og-image
```

---

## Module Overview
