## What it does

The skill instructs your coding agent on how to query mobile app data through the ScreensDesign MCP. It searches recorded mobile screens, stored user flows, publisher portfolios, and public App Store customer feedback. Agents use it to analyze paywalls or verify onboarding sequences step by step.

The hosted MCP operates in read-only mode. When searching for visual matches with `find_similar_screens`, you must provide either a known `screen_id` or an image encoded in base64. The skill maintains a strict distinction between marketing assets and in-app screens: store screenshots require `search_store_screens`, while true recorded product views rely on `app_screens`.

Without an active ScreensDesign MCP connection, these workflows cannot run. The skill performs a version compatibility check via `get_screensdesign_skill` prior to running research calls. Batch lookups permit up to 10 app or screen IDs at once.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add screensdesign-com/screensdesign-agent-skill --skill screensdesign-data -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/screensdesign-data/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/screensdesign-data/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add screensdesign-com/screensdesign-agent-skill --skill screensdesign-data -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/screensdesign-data/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add screensdesign-com/screensdesign-agent-skill --skill screensdesign-data -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/screensdesign-data/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install screensdesign-com/screensdesign-agent-skill screensdesign-data
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/screensdesign-data/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add screensdesign-com/screensdesign-agent-skill --skill screensdesign-data -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/screensdesign-com/screensdesign-agent-skill --path screensdesign-data
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/screensdesign-data/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add screensdesign-com/screensdesign-agent-skill --skill screensdesign-data -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/screensdesign-com/screensdesign-agent-skill/tree/HEAD/screensdesign-data/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- inspect competitor paywalls and onboarding screen sequences
- retrieve recorded app screens based on interface descriptions
- analyze negative App Store customer reviews and sentiment
- locate visually similar mobile screens using an image or screen ID

## Example prompts
- Find annual subscription paywalls from top meditation apps.
- Retrieve the full onboarding screen flow for this ScreensDesign app ID.
- Extract common complaints from recent App Store reviews for this competitor.

# ScreensDesign Data

Release: `1.0.8` · MCP contract: `2`

Use ScreensDesign as an evidence-first mobile-app research source. Its hosted MCP is read-only and returns public app links, recorded-product evidence, App Store creatives, performance estimates, and saved collection context.

## Check This Skill Once

When `get_screensdesign_skill` is available, call it once per conversation before the first ScreensDesign research call and pass `installed_version="1.0.8"`.

- If the status is `current`, continue without discussing the check.
- If it is `update_available`, continue when compatible and briefly tell the user an update exists.
- If it is `incompatible`, ask to update before relying on workflows whose contracts may have changed.
- If the check tool is unavailable, continue with the live tool schemas. Never repeat the check in the same conversation.

The live MCP tool name, description, and input schema override local examples when they disagree with this skill.
