## What it does

The skill retrieves slang terms, definitions, examples, and vote counts from Urban Dictionary. It relies on the `apidojo/urbandictionary-scraper` actor hosted on the Apify platform. Requests accept keyword arrays or specific search links as input.

Execution runs through the `run_actor.js` script or the Apify MCP `call_actor` tool. Direct HTTP API requests provide an alternative path. Output exports cleanly into JSON or CSV. You can also pass a JavaScript snippet via `customMapFunction` to transform records before saving.

Urban Dictionary features explicit entries by nature, so you will need to filter sensitive content downstream. Many terms have dozens of definitions. Use the `maxItems` argument to keep result sets manageable.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install apidojo-io/apidojo-skills scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --path skills/primitives/scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-urban-dictionary-definitions -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills
