## What it does

The skill sends usernames to Apify’s `apidojo~instagram-scraper` and returns profile fields such as follower and following counts, post count, biography, verification status, and business-account details. To collect post-level engagement metrics, set `includeRecentPosts: true`; profile statistics alone do not include them.

Set the `APIFY_TOKEN` environment variable before running the scraper. The workflow can use `scripts/run_actor.js`, Apify MCP, or the REST API. The script can wait for the run to finish and save results as CSV or JSON. Private accounts return profile stats but no posts, so their post data will be missing.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-instagram-profile-data -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/scraping-instagram-profile-data/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/scraping-instagram-profile-data/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-instagram-profile-data -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/scraping-instagram-profile-data/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-instagram-profile-data -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/scraping-instagram-profile-data/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install apidojo-io/apidojo-skills scraping-instagram-profile-data
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/scraping-instagram-profile-data/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-instagram-profile-data -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --path skills/primitives/scraping-instagram-profile-data
```

- File: `.devin/skills/scraping-instagram-profile-data/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill scraping-instagram-profile-data -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

# Scraping Instagram Profile Data

Bulk profile export for any set of Instagram usernames. Returns account-level stats and optional recent post data.

## Prerequisites

- `APIFY_TOKEN` environment variable set
- Optional: Apify MCP server installed

## Inputs

| Parameter | Type | Required | Default | Notes |
|-----------|------|----------|---------|-------|
| `startUrls` | array | ✅ | `[]` | Instagram URLs — profiles, hashtags, locations, audio pages, reels |
| `until` | string | Optional | — | Scrape posts until this date (YYYY-MM-DD) |
| `maxItems` | number | Optional | Unlimited | Maximum posts to return |
| `customMapFunction` | string | Optional | — | JavaScript function to transform each output object |

## Workflow

```
Progress:
- [ ] Step 1: Normalize username list
- [ ] Step 2: Run instagram-scraper
- [ ] Step 3: Poll for SUCCEEDED
- [ ] Step 4: Deliver profile dataset
```

### Step 2: Run the Actor

**Recommended — run_actor.js (handles waiting, output, and file saving automatically):**
```bash
# Quick answer (prints table to chat)
node scripts/run_actor.js \
  --actor "apidojo~instagram-scraper" \
  --input '{"param": "value"}'
# Save as CSV
node scripts/run_actor.js \
  --actor "apidojo~instagram-scraper" \
  --input '{"param": "value"}' \
  --output YYYY-MM-DD_results.csv --format csv
# Save as JSON
node scripts/run_actor.js \
  --actor "apidojo~instagram-scraper" \
  --input '{"param": "value"}' \
  --output YYYY-MM-DD_results.json --format json
```
> `APIFY_TOKEN` must be set in environment or `.env` file.

**If Apify MCP is available:**
```
Tool: apify:run-actor
Actor: "apidojo~instagram-scraper"
Input:
{
  "usernames": ["handle1", "handle2"],
  "includeRecentPosts": false
}
```

**REST API fallback:**
```bash
curl -X POST \
  "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/apidojo~instagram-scraper/runs?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"usernames": ["handle1", "handle2"]}'
```

Save `id` as `RUN_ID`. Poll until `status = SUCCEEDED`:
```bash
````
